    Trolling motor on 208

I wanted to investigate putting a trolling motor on my 208. Boat is used on Lake Murray in SC and chop will usually be a minor issue. Would mostly like to use if for GPS anchor while striper fishing. Has anyone done this? Concerned that the 60" arm will not get deep enough mounted on the...

Wouldn't a "helicopter driver" be a pilot? Never heard a pilot call himself a "driver"

    plastic wood trim looks lousy

Agree with penetrol but I took it all off the boat and applied 5 coats. This was in May and still looks pretty goo. Not as good as real teak but not sure I want to put up with the continued maintenance of the real thing.

    Edson Steering knob

Make sure you put it at 6-oclock position when you are going straight. The added weight tends to pull down there and if it's not at 6 then boat will steer off course.

    F150 vs F200 vs F225 Performance Stats

No way the 225 weighs 200 lbs less than the 200. Especially the new 4-cyl 200.

    Trailer or Marina?

Agree it's a lot to triler but why can't you keep it in the dry stack and have them move it to the water when you want to tinker. Have you figured in hte cost of keeping the bottom clean? I think your hull will be happier out of the water.

I have the F200 on my 208 and couldn't be happier. Only 20 hours so far.

    yamaha F225 on overnighter..too much??

I don't think it would be worth trading in the 225 for a F200 and losing so much on the trade. My F200 2013 repower cost me $17k. I would consider taking the kicker off and getting $2k for it and going with the f225 single power. Your main power is new and should be reliable and a 9.9 kicker...

    yamaha F225 on overnighter..too much??

I have a the same F200 Yamaha on my 208 and agree it's the right motor. I had a setup similar to the poster's before that with a 225 Salt Water series and 9.9hp four stroke kicker. It rode low and would always get my feet wet when I went aft. They drained none the less. Also had problems...

2004 Gulfstream addition of a kicker

I used to have a kicker on my 208 with a 2-stroke 225 yamaha. I list of pros and cons is right on. Traded out my power for a yamaha F200 and lost the kicker and have never been happier. Biggest trouble to getting it to troll slow enough (I troll for stripers at 2-3 mph) but fix this by either...

I agree that power anchor not really necessary with that boat. Having said that, if I had a few grand to throw around I love to have one.

    208 adventure

I just repowered my 1995 208 with the Yamaha F200. Had a 225 saltwater series and a 9.9 four stroke on the back before that. First thing I noticed is that the scruppers are actually abve the water line now. I could never ride before without my trim tabs and now they are optional. Also got...

Bilge pump runs on and on...

My bilge pump will turn on periodically even with a dry bilge. Once it does, it wants to run until the battery is drained. The boat is always kept trailered or on a lift, never in the water. It runs even when both batteries are off. Not all the time. Just some of the time (50%?) any...

Look what I am bringing home!

Congrats on the new boat. Hope to see you out on Lake Murray. Mine is a 208 which is enough for me here and easier for me to trailer. Sorry you missed the fireworks last night.

    Kicker Bracket

I troll for stripers with mine and it goes a little fast at 3mph. Like to keep it at about 2mph and will sometimes tie on a sea anchor. If anyone else wants the Panther Kicker bracket it can be had for $200. otherwise it will become my next target next time I go out to the range.
