    Trolling motor

Engine steering They tied a rod with a flexible connector on each end of the rod between the front of the F250 and the 9.9, althought after spending driving time yesterday I need to adjust the brackets slightly.

    Scuppers and engine in water

Scuppers and engine I have an 08 T225 as well and am very pleased generally. I also have a 9.9 kicker. The Yami 250 has 3-5" of the cone in the water and the scuppers are very close to being under water. I can see the water looking down in the drains. My current solution is to dry stack the...

    Decent Salmon Fishing

Was out yesterday in Seattle; Elliot Bay. Three keepers between 5 and 18 lbs, two on green hoochie, one on cut plug herring. The 18# stripped off several hundred yards of line on 2-3 runs, nice fish. Still slower than we usually experience. I think they are a little late this year. The fish was...

    Hardtop on a 225 Tournament

    Trolling motor

kicker I have a bracketed 9.9 Yami on a T225 with a main F250 engine. The engines are lashed together and I have an extra binnacle at the helm for the kicker. Very expensive but very good option. We troll a lot for Salmon.

    Cruise Speed??

Optimum cruise In all of my boats seems to be about 70-75% throttle. In GW 225 this is about 30 mph or 4000 RPM with F 250 My diesel boat also is about the same %

    Real Fuel Capacity

The local Grady Club is planning three trips out of Westport. The last few years the water has been warm enough to get tuna 30-60 miles out. Running at the sweet spot of the boat I get almost 3 miles per gallon. At that rate I would only use 1/2 of the tank for out and back and the rest would be...

    Real Fuel Capacity

I am considering a run offshore to fish for tuna and may need to go out about 65 miles. My tournament 225 has 96 gallon tank. Has anyone ever run the tank down far enough to determine how much usable capacity there is? In my larger boat the last 30 gallons is not usable as the pickup is in the...

    kicker engine for seafarer 226

Kicker I have a 9.9 on 08 Tournament 225. Max speed for me with it is 5.5 mph. I wouldn't go any smaller if you want to get home in a currant or wind situation.

    Tournament 223 repower?

T 225 I have a six week old T225 with a F250 as well as a 9.9 kicker on it. The four stroke is a nice running real solid engine. I am close to the limit with the kicker: if large guys go to the back some water appears around the floor drains (scuppers) but not much. If you were to install a...

    water skiing - islander

Islander water skiing I think that your boat will not have the hole shot required, will have a very large wake (bad for skiing, cool for wakeboarding) and might not be quite as nimble for skier recovery as you would like. It does't hurt to try however. I have skied for the last 40 years...

The year and beyond Lots of change, not much of it for the better. Could be time to batten the hatches.

    Good Price for a 2004 225 Tournament?

New 225 nw boater I just bought a new 08 225 Tournament from Jacobsen's. Great experience so far, I am sure they would be there if something happened. Their delivery process, boat condition, rigging, 10 hr service and attitude were top knotch. They are not the cheapest price you will find but...

    Soundproofing the outboard

Bills burning After 40+ years of two strokes (starting with Dad's 35 'rude on a 17'wooden Starlet (local Wa. boat) to latest 200 hp carbed merc (just gave it up in the last two months) I have admired the general dependability and respected the power developed by the two stroke. Downsides were...

    Tournament 225 Ski Storage

Unlike most dual consoles there is no below deck storage for skiis and wakeboards. How and where have others stored these items?

    Finally Got the Grady

Break in No WOT throtttle for first couple hours and then continue to vary speed with WOT throttle being possible increasingly over the first 10 hours. Mostly I just ran the boat where I felt it was comfortable which varies the speed naturally depending on wave conditions. Out today for 4-5...

skiing behind Tournament 275 vs T225

Watersports I bought the T225 for all around use. It is a fine recreational towboat. It is not as good as the dedicated wakeboard or ski boats but respectable if you are not a tournament quality skier or wakeboarder. I was surprised how small the wake is at 34-36 mph. It makes a pretty decent...

    batteries question

batteries When you are running the boat you should switch to 1 or 2 on alternate (so you keep both charged up) trips. Both is emergency or needing to recharge both if you are going to take a long run and you know both batteries are good. Turn it off at the dock to avoid draining the batteries...
