228g hard top ,top end speed

Mine gets 40-41 loaded fairly light - say half-fuel, 2-3 people, canvas off. Load it to the gills for fishing - full fuel, 200 lbs ice, 3 big guys fishing, tackle, etc, etc - maybe 38ish (but sea conditions and fuel economy dictate running around 25 - 30 mph for me). Sounds like you are...

Depth finder quit - Garmin GSD 22 w/ 4208 chartplotter

I'd post this on the Marine Electronics Forum at http://www.thehulltruth.com. There is a LOT of knowledgeable feedback in that section. I'm wagering the guy with the name bluewaterpirate will give you some helpful tips. Good luck - I know how frustrating that kind of thing can be.

    2011 Freedom 225 Question

Our 228 walkaround is the same hull. It sounds like you probably had the engine trimmed out (up) when trying to get up on plane. You need to trim the engine in (down) and you solve that problem. The swim platform has nothing to do with what you were experiencing. The 225 is an excellent boat.

    Water pump replacement

I'd suggest you call Andy at SIM and discuss it. I'm betting he will advise the entire kit, and he will explain why. IMO it doesn't hurt to spend the extra dollars for all the components in the assembly - that water pump is a vital part and personally I wouldn't take a chance.

    Seafarer 228

Mine is located under the rear port seat, mounted to the transom wall. The outlet (with a waterproof rubber cover) to plug the extension cord in is located on the panel facing the cockpit right under the seat. Both batteries are also located under the port seat as well. Hope that helps.

    Cover for Gulfstream

See my reply in the following thread. We paid approx $600"ish" for the cover and like it very much. Depending on whether or not you have a pulpit will also determine size. Ours was model # 1C-90025. You would need larger, both length and width. viewtopic.php?f=2&t=15131

want general advice on 22 seafarer

BOTH the Seafarer 226 and 228 have 8ft beams. You need to go up to a 232 Gulfstream for a 9 ft beam (it is 9-3). Agree with the above answers to your post. Try to get as late a model as you can afford. We love our 228.

New 228G Owner Here, question on storage

I do want to add that the cover model number I gave you assumes you have the bow pulpit. If you don't have the pulpit, I'd go 1 foot shorter - maybe 2.

New 228G Owner Here, question on storage

GulfSea, Welcome! I did see your reply to my pm on THT. Anytime you have questions, everyone here is very happy to lend a hand. You mentioned covering your boat. Our cover came from http://www.coversearch.com. The model # is 90025 and it's made by Carver Industries. It takes about 10 minutes...

Ball park cost to replace enclosure 22-8

Suggest you call your closest GW dealer - they can give you a price. Personally, I'd go to bid from several good local canvas makers. Not where you are but there are many near almost any coastal boating center. If/when, we ever need to replace, I'd probably go that route. I'm betting you will...

    Seafarer 228 vs 228G

Is stands for "Grady drive", i.e., engine on a bracket.

    Lettering for Side of Grady

I hear what Leapfrog says, but from personal experience, it's actually pretty easy. The Boat US decals come with a set of instructions and if you follow them, you will not have a problem. Basically it's just a matter of adding a drop or two of liquid detergent to a spray bottle filled with...

    Lettering for Side of Grady

We used boatus.com. If you are not a member you should be anyway as they are a bigtime lobby for recreational boating. Anyway, there is a link there to their lettering service. They were great to work with and mailed me several actual-size computer printouts so we could adjust font, slant...

    228 seafarer storage question..antenna

My cover has a velcro flap that allows the antenna to go through the cover - the flap seems good at keeping rain out. Works well for me. The picture unfortunately does not show it but you can make out the flap just forward ot the hardtop rocket launchers. I got the cover from coversearch.com.

    Marlin or Sailfish?

Not sure if this applies in your situation, but the Marlin has a gernerator option and it is not available in the Sailfish. FWIW, I've crawled around in both and the Marlin is MUCH bigger.

    Grady White Factory Tour

You probably already did this, but if you haven't, do yourself a favor and give customer service a call and make that connection before you show up. They'll likely have a nice little gift bag for you and if she's available, you'll likely meet Kris Carroll. The tour is awesome and you'll leave...

    E-15 - Just say no!

There is a move underway currently by the EPA to increase ethanol to E-15. Here is a link you can follow that will allow you to easily send a message to the President, showing your disdain for E15. http://www.followthescience.org/take-action/ Also, Boat US has also sent out an alert on the...

    360 Express options

In looking at your location (Nova Scotia), I would think the enclosed option would make sense for you. As for me, being a southern US boater, give me the open traditional version and let me have that fresh breeze blowing through with the option to button it up with curtains, if needed. I do have...
