Best thing to paint fuel tank with?

Zinc Chromate I recently replaced my 1991 228G Seafarer's 93-gallon tank with a brand new custom made aluminium tank. I consulted with many marine experts and all recommended the application of three thin coats of Zinc Chromate instead of "powder coating", which is not usually sold in local...

    Barbecue Mount

BBQ Mount Thanks GulfCart for your great idea! I read your post last week and for Father's Day, my wife and kids purchased me that Coleman Camp Grill for $64.00 from Walmart along with the Coleman carrying case $19.98 (free home delivery). We already had the Magma T10-313 Bait/Filet Mate...

    Need Gas Tank

Tank & Fuel Line Replacements A few months ago I replaced the main 93-gallon fuel tank last year on my 1991 Seafarer 228G and used Phil from Alloy Metal Works in Farmingdale, NY 631-694-8163. I removed and delivered my old gas tank to Phil, and he properly disposed of the same for free. I had...

    trim tab problem

Trim Tabs Had the same problem a few weeks ago and determined there was corrosion in the unit's "quick disconnect" plug. You could try to unplug and then clean the contacts with electric contact spray cleaner. My 19 year old plug could not be cleaned well, but was able to get tabs to properly...

    Hard top cargo net?

Cargo Net I just installed an auto cargo net that I had purchased from Walmart in their auto section for only $9.98 (SKU#: 4289994240). It has a bungy cord perimiter with loops on all four corners. I drilled electrical nylon clips fasteners to the hard top frame perimiter (w/ 8 x 1/2" s.s...

    windshield wipers

Windshield Wiper Replacement Blade Last year I replaced my wiper blade on my 1991 228G Seafarer by picking one up in the auto supply department of Walmart. The selection is large and the prices rock bottom (50% less than in marine supply stores)!

    Trim Tabs not Working

My 19 year old Bennett Trim Tabs stoppped working last year too. Changed the fuse and it began to work well again. However, at the end of last year's boating season, both tabs would only go down, but not go back up. Diagonosed the problem to be the "quick disconnect" plug for the tab pump...

    May need a fuel tank!

The fill hose had to be cut with a metal hack saw to cut through the spiraled steel wire inlay. The exterior surface was not smooth - it had circular grooves to make it more flexible. I believe the cost was about $8/foot.

    May need a fuel tank!

Yes - I replaced the vent hose in the same manner. I purchased all of my new fuel lines and the fill hose from a local marine supply store, Fred Chall Marine in Freeport, NY. Kindly note that the fill hose is a specialty thick and rigid hose, not to mention a very costly one. Before I...

    May need a fuel tank!

93 Gallon Gas Tank I just replaced my 19 year old original 93 gallon gas tank in my 1991 Seafarer by myself. Replacing the gas lines was easy, except the fill line was a real bitch. The trick is to attach a smaller hose inside the existing fill hose and screw same tightly together so that it...

Gas Springs for Livewells & Elec. Boxes on 228G Seafarer

Just purchased this 1991 beauty in May 2009. The transom livewell and both electronic storage boxes are equipped with "collapsable spring" door/hatch supports, but the two livewell hatches under the captain chairs did not come equipped with any type of supports to keep them open on their own...
