Troll mode on the Yamaha CL7

PS to my prior reply: I would be thrilled if someone has another approach to go lower, but it's my understanding that this is working as designed (or perhaps as implemented).....

Troll mode on the Yamaha CL7

Pretty consistent with my experience on my 208 -- mine bottoms out at 650 RPM and will go up from there, but not down. Your low end is likely different than mine given you have the 250HP and I have a 200HP.

300 Marlin - Gen or not to Gen?

This may quite possibly be a really stupid question, but here it goes.....I have a Marlin without a generator and have been following this post and can clearly see the downside of lithium charging from the engines and the use of a portable gas generator. However, the idea of a power station like...

    Door latch problem Freedom 325

Thanks -- this is a very different design than the one on my Marlin 300. I am going to try something that looks to be more secure and I agree with the design issue comment. For a boat of this quality, the cabin door should not be violently opening and closing. Part of my challenge is that the...

    Door latch problem Freedom 325

Can you provide information on the GW latch? Part number and supplier if available? My bifold cabin door doesn't stay open (the magnetic holders don't align) and it seems the easiest solution is to just add a latch which will be more secure when bouncing around. Thanks....

new Grady quick connect engine flush

I have been doing the same - - flushing from the connectors on the outboards. I do think it's possible to setup an alternative system with a valve to control whether it's open or not and would think if everything was stainless, it would hold up ok in the salt water environment. I would expect to...

new Grady quick connect engine flush

I had one of two on my Marlin that was difficult to plug in and it leaked from the day the boat was delivered. On about the third use, the receiving end on the boat broke apart. It's now apparent it was cracked which is why it was difficult to plug in and also why it fell apart. It's a warranty...

330s or other walkarounds with painted hulls - let's see your pics!

Attached is a photo of a 2021 Marlin 300 in Seaport Blue. If you want to message me with your email address I can send you higher resolution pictures by email. This forum won't let me upload due to size.

    Marlin transducer flats

I attached the measurement drawing that my dealer made for me on my 2021 Marlin. I ultimately put in the following transducer in the flat and have been happy with the results and how it performs: GARMIN # 010-01966-10 GT51M-TH THRUHULL MOUNT TRANSDUCER

    How does beam affect ride?

iPad sent too fast... I feel as though I’m getting it close based on ride and fuel efficiency. Definitely need to spend more time with trim experimentation.

    How does beam affect ride?

it’s quite possible that I don’t have trim set to perfection. with less than 100 hours on my Marlin I’m still figuring out what feels best. I feel as though

    How does beam affect ride?

This is an interesting discussion and one of the earlier comments is important: "What he considers a rough ride in a Marlin might not be the same as your impression if you were his passenger.". My son was fine on the ride (as the passenger) and didn't seem phased by the chop or the ride. I'm...

Adventure 208 Electronics Box - Fishfinder Size?

Yes, the 12" is on the garmin supplied mount (after a little grinding to slightly modify the bracket - - though not sure that was necessary based on how it was finally mounted). You can easily get to the two Garmin supplied screw handles on each side, so my guess is removal is no different than...

Adventure 208 Electronics Box - Fishfinder Size?

Here's a photo showing the 12 inch Garmin in the 208 electronics box. It fits with the door installed, but I opted to remove the door as I got tired of opening and closing it - - when the door it up it's in the way of the Yamaha screen. Works either way and the 12" is nice for clarity and...

Adventure 208 Electronics Box - Fishfinder Size?

I had a Garmin GPSMAP 8612XSV 12 installed in my 208. It sits in the enclosure with the screen directly behind the door box. If I recall correctly the installer had to remove the Yamaha control screen to bolt the Garmin down into that location as there is not enough room to reach in from the...

Adventure 208 - Adding fishing rod grommets in cabin

Approximately 20" of extra storage length. I store 8' rods without any issues.

    Water Smells In Freshwater Tank:

The Great Grady app says to flush once or twice per year with water and a 10% bleach solution to kill mold and mildew. 10% is the same that we use in EMS to clean medical equipment in the field and on ambulances. And, it also says to add lemon juice to the water tank to help control odors...

Adventure 208 - Adding fishing rod grommets in cabin

Great idea on the sleeves - doesn't solve the length problem, but will be great to protect the stored rods and likely eliminate the eyes getting snagged during storage.

Adventure 208 - Adding fishing rod grommets in cabin

That is pretty much how I use my alternative panel. I like the rod tips to be protected in the tubing as nothing gets snagged going in or out. And, I don't use the J hooks either and rest the rods on the cushions as you suggest. Works well for overnight storage as I like to keep everything below...

Adventure 208 - Adding fishing rod grommets in cabin

Not the greatest picture, but should give you the general idea... I glued 3 layers of the PVC board together to give it some reasonable rigidity to hold everything. As you can see, I bypassed all the rod holders for this storage approach....
