Unobtrusive hullside placement won't provide any thrills, but a minimalist approach helps. Photo in PM.

Fuel fill line on Offshore 24

Re: Seviceability! There's a deck plate immediately above the tank fill, but no access whatsoever to the fill cap(s) on the gunwhale. Inspection with a telescoping mirror is possible, for whatever that might be worth. Adding a deck plate at the gunwhale solves that problem ... but more fun...

Fuel fill line on Offshore 24

This has been a frequent topic and a search may prove helpful. This is from my post in a previous thread: "In my experience, having replaced the tanks and the fuel lines on my '87 Sailfish, you will have to create an access port directly below the fill cap(s) and, once the tank(s) is/are...

    EPIRB Mounting Location

EXCELLENT POST! I think this is VERY interesting. The USCG says on their site: "The Coast Guard recommends you purchase a 406 MHz EPIRB, preferably one with an integral GPS navigation receiver. A Cat I EPIRB should be purchased if it can be installed properly..." but goes no further to...

    Motor Well Modifications

Your first mate is well on her way to becoming an admiral. Join the club. I thought about doing the same at one time, but I lay down on the couch and rested until the urge passed. If the admiral's ... err ... first mate's concern is the appearance of the rigging, why not span the splashwell with...

Yeah, I found this down there too.

    Bilge pumps in a Grady!

No more bizarre than the glass man who glassed over and sealed a drain hole between my two fuel tank compartments. Ran it that way for 20 years until I pulled the tanks. Here's a pic after I fixed it. [/img]

    Bilge pumps in a Grady!

My plug is just where the manual says it's supposed to be ... in the aft bilge compartment chained to the bulkhead, accessible through the deck plate in the transom splash well. Someone installed your plug on the wrong side of the bulkhead.

    Bilge pumps in a Grady!

Leave it in. Your thinking is correct. Here's what the Grady owner's manual says:

    May need a fuel tank!

You may have to do some serious cutting in order to simply remove the old lines. Looking on the bright side, that will make installation of the new ones all that much easier. To gain access to the hose clamps on the deck fill, I had to cut out a hole big enough to later install a full size deck...

    Washdown Pump Issue

Just a thought. For many years I was able to enjoy a reasonable service life mounting a popular brand name washdown pump in the bilge below the water line, per the instructions. In recent years, I found that the seal(s) which are supposed to prevent water from moving up from the pump into the...

A question for stand up gear users

That's not me. Dennis Braid has made "stand-up" style fishing for large tuna his specialty, including those fish on the East coast. He's a major tackle manufacturer and sells all the necessary gear to handle an 80 class reel. His staff has all the answers for you. Here's his website ... check...

    '86 Sailfish Makeover...

Here's a fuel tank thread where I posted "before-during-after" pictures for my 1987 Sailfish 255. http://www.greatgrady.com/forum/viewtop ... highlight= I've done the re-power thing also. Oh yeah, 3rd battery, new electronics thing, and let's see ... what else? Glad to answer any questions...

    RADAR PURCHASE

I am looking at an old Raymarine brochure which includes the 10.4" color L1250 Plus and the 7" color L760 Plus. They came in two versions: fishfinder only and fishfinder with chartplotter built-in. The brochure says that both versions are hsb2 compatible, and may be linked to a stand-alone radar...

    Portable Generators: Honda or Yamaha?

I've been successful powering a ProMariner 3-bank 30 amp onboard charger with an older Yamaha 1000w generator. 2000w would be even better, but I believe there will be a weight penalty ... Yamaha 1000w (27.9#) and the Honda 2000w (46.3#).

    C120W fits old Sailfish

Oops! I just realized I never replied to your question, didn't mean to be rude. Compass readings remain pretty darn good ... probably 2º to 3º off, depending on the course I'm running. The mounting location for the C120W had been previously occupied by another MFD. When that unit was installed...

    New Grady Owner

I was lucky. I got s C120W to fit in my Grady ... barely. http://www.greatgrady.com/forum/viewtop ... highlight= You'll like the C-Wide. I've spent a year with mine and it's getting pretty dialed in. If you have any questions about yours, don't hesitate to ask me.

    New Grady Owner

You are getting a nice boat ... congratulations. I have a couple of thoughts on your electronics choices. If you are going to configure your helm for a Raymarine C-Wide, I'd consider choosing the biggest one you can shoe-horn in there ... and maybe even do a little cutting if you need to. If the...
