2-stroke yamaha re using piston rings

Lime, the cylinders are not all identical and the rings seat to the individual cylinders. I wouldn't consider using them again if they were mixed up from their original positions. A lip forms near the top of the cylinders from normal wear above where the ring tops out. If not taken out and a...

Please Help. This price seems WAY too high.

Very good, some people do not have the means or the time to do that job. It was a great idea on their part and having the equipment to tie up a crane for the job and leaving them rigged. Will save time and money. Looking forward to seeing pics!

    Bilge System Modifications

Well it was not a good thing to assume and agree for everyone (people can think for themselves) that adding pumps and batteries do not save boats. A ridiculous thing to say, that being able to pump more water and for more time will not save a boat that is taking on water, until help does arrive...

    Bilge System Modifications

Playing with gas likely in rough seas and obviously on the wrong day when everything is already going wrong is a hazard. I would be one of those not in agreement that additional pumps and batteries would not help. They certainly will and they will do it safely.

    Tank/pump question

What tells you the level are 2 float switches. Common to freeze and break off in cold climates when not winterized properly. $200! 1 light will light when you get up to 1/4 tank and the other 3/4, only when you push the display button in. Also, the macerator is notorious for rotting out and...

Please Help. This price seems WAY too high.

Price seems on target from here. Probably even a great deal as it will not be only 1 guy working on it for the duration and there are always surprises along the way, help will be needed at times. Marina's around here are at $150 an hour, puts their quote on target, barring no nightmares along...

    2006 sailfish 282

Agree the Marlin is the Sailfish on steroids! The Marlins I saw run 250's and with the wider beam, need the 250's and figure the fuel burn would push me over the edge. Twin 200's are quite enough to feed. Those 4S 225's are exactly why I didn't want a 282 and instead went with a late model 272...

custom alaska top on grady white

Situations like this are not about resale Dennis. Custom work is expensive and the money will not come back to you. You have to really want it to lay out the money for it. It could likely become a white elephant unable to sell because of it but again, it is not about resale but what someone...

custom alaska top on grady white

You can have anything you want custom made. There is a sailfish in my area that has one and it does look good.

Where to install thru hull transducer on 2001 Grady 265

You don't have a provision built into the hull for a transducer like the sailfish models? Clean water is needed in front of one. I would have excess holes professionally patched, very well tapered on both sides to prevent mechanical failure in either direction.

    2006 sailfish 282

It would fit inside of a Sailfish.

    2006 sailfish 282

I hear you. I have seen more neglected Grady's than clean ones on the market and they want top dollar for them and wonder why they do not sell. I live on an island where Grady's are everywhere and actually had to buy out of state to fine my clean, turn key machine for a reasonable price. Hang...

    2006 sailfish 282

I have a few small cracks in my liner on the 2000. Not really noticeable. I wouldn't call it a deal breaker but if the cracks are large and a real eye sore I would lower my offering price (as compared to a good liner) because it will be equally an eye sore (if not worse) when it is your turn to...

    Bilge System Modifications

Silverlining, you can mount the pump & switch wherever you want. You are not overthinking it and correct that the lower, the better. Personal preference. Post pics of your installation.

    Bilge System Modifications

Robert, looks good but the float switches should be facing aft and you may want to use some zip ties to prevent the wiring from fouling in the floats.

    Bilge System Modifications

Hey J-Sea, you are correct. I just used starboard material and SS L-brackets to form the shelf and it is secured by screws up top. Wires are intentionally long so it can be removed out of the way to access the float switch underneath. I use the same pumps so they can share bases. If the lower...

    Bilge System Modifications

I fix things for a living, everything can and will fail, eventually. Removing the switch for regular testing is why I didn't buy one. I may have went for an ultra with built in alarm circuit if I knew at the time it could be physically tested with a magnet every trip to the boat. Thanks for...
