Was this a members boat? What Happened?

Don't apologize to him about "hijacks" after he chimes in on page 3 of a very slow moving board. There are no "hijacks" as these forums are not strictly question and one line answers, they are discussions that sometimes evolve into a lot of good conversation, input and things to learn about the...

Main Breaker Trips with Shore Power Outage

The double break design is intentional. Will help protect you against docks/marinas that are wired reverse polarity. You do not want to defeat this feature with a single break. Just change the breaker. That will eliminate it as the culprit as you cannot do anything about the marina and...

    Bilge System Modifications

Yes the Ultra's have a good reputation. The only reason (aside from them also not fitting in many forward bilges) I do not use the ultra is there is no means to mechanically/electrically test the float switch. I physically test my float switches regularly, have used many types/brands over the...

blew the port engine while offshore

Yes, where are the cross hatches to help seat the rings? Also look shiny. Maybe it is just camera and lighting?

    Bilge System Modifications

A high water alarm is a great idea. For offshore, another great idea is a completely independent back up bilge pump system... Another great idea is an extra back up deep cycle house battery in case you do have to pump a lot of water...

    Anti-fouling report

You need to use paint for aluminum, like Interlux Trilux. This would annoy me greatly if my gear cases did not clear the water and would probably install motor wedges so they would clear the water.... http://www.bobsmachine.com/Transom-Wedges_c45.htm

    Anti-fouling report

I am using petit Trinidad these days. So far so good after the first season, painting over what was already on the hull. If I get a 2nd season out of it I will be happy. So far, the absolute best paint I have ever used (I have tried all types and many brands) was VC Offshore. Least friction...

    Flush Mounting on a 272

I do like the twin displays. Much better than a single unit and using split screen.

    Flush Mounting on a 272

It is starboard material. Plastic. You can get it in different colors. It is what most use to build custom dashes. I used it on my last boat. It supposedly cuts like wood but you have to cut slow or it melts from heat. You can file/round off the edges to give it a more finished look. There are...

    Flush Mounting on a 272

You lose a lot of storage space giving up a box just to flush mount something. I saw a pic somewhere in my travels where someone split the box in half to flush mount on 1 side and still had a nice little storage box on the other side.

    Help! New Grady problems

I am with bayrat. Seems a tab issue or tab operator issue to me. It is pretty ridiculous to think a livewell will list a 25 foot boat 8". The boat was designed with a livewell and associated weight on that side. I added hundreds of pounds to my port side with extra house battery directly under...

Repairing leaky windows on GW Sailfish

Vero, I found the thread. It wasn't on this site.... http://www.thehulltruth.com/boating-forum/7356-how-do-you-replace-grady-sliding-window.html So I guess now I have to get out there and figure out how to get the entire frame off the boat with zero damage, try to see what is holding it in place.

Repairing leaky windows on GW Sailfish

Vero, I remember reading a thread about someone in the same situation and someone said they had to remove and cut the frame to split it and re weld it with new glass in place. Another saying they needed a whole new window, all of it. I did a search a more than a couple times and I cannot find...

228 with an F250 - sitting a bit low in the water

My sailfish gear cases clear the water. If it didn't, since the motors are able to tuck way under and you would never need that much angle down, I would install wedges to enable a few more degrees tilted up to clear the water. Ridiculous to have to bottom paint your skeg. The boats that have...

    ox66 trouble shooting

I don't care for the flame test. Personally, I like the DMM better because it shows specifically how the O2 sensor is behaving with the engine running. Both of my OX's ran bad/idled bad (to me) but yet passed a survey with flying colors, somehow. 1 O2 sensor was totally clogged beyond belief...

Looking for Real World 282 Sailfish Performance #s

19 is definitely over pitched with 225's and 17 is over pitched running 200's. 225's should run 17's and 200's should run 15/16's. The misleading fuel numbers make it very tempting to run higher pitch but over propping is killing the motor. Need to be able to get in that proper upper rpm range...
