New Etec on the market, impressions?

It would need to stand out from the crowd with fuel numbers to cancel out the ugly. In the absence of fuel economy numbers, that says they are no better than what we are all already running.

    Raw water washdown pump prime?

Having an issue with prime with this pump. I anchor in a muddy bottom, the chain and anchor comes up caked with black mud. Trying to hose it down as the rode comes in, the water pump surges on and off, very annoying and renders the pump useless for what I need it for in the first place. It is a...

    Control Mold/Mildew

Don't need anything in winter (here) but all summer long I use these pellet containers for many years. I dump the water every trip to the boat. I do not buy it in west marine though. I buy the big bag refills from home depot.

    Gas assisted spring piston needed.

That link didn't go to replacements.

Water Heater: Leave it On or Off?

Steve, I would shut it off. One less live circuit that could cause electrical issues in your absence, for no good reason. Also, a leak/drain issue would burn up the coil. It only takes an hour running to heat the water super hot, so unless someone needs a shower right away upon arrival at the...

    Missing plastic fitting?

You can download your manual from grady site and figure out what it is. No matter what it is, need to do something about it. Not a place you want a hole to let water in.

    Gas assisted spring piston needed.

Thanks Jeff, that is exactly what Ameritool told me. The grady number is 625-3-30, Ameritool number is 10-296 for the 30 pound. The grady number is 625-3-60, Ameritool number is 10-675 for the 60 pound. I guessed ordering the 30 pound for my starboard side fishwell behind helm seat and guessed...

    1996 Grady Marlin 30

18 is in interesting price. If it is what you say, it probably will not last long on the market.

Was this a members boat? What Happened?

One of the first things I did on mine was replace those pop out plates on the bracket with beckson screw in type and replaced all O-rings on the plates inside the boat.

    paste wax

You can build up wax, if that is what you are using. Cleaning waxes and polishes won't build up like a paste wax such as old school gliptone. I use the gliptone on my car, 3 times over the winter and it is good to go until next year, rarely even have to use soap to wash it, just hose it and...

    Tarp Damaged Gelcoat, Help!

I have some of that from the tarp at aft stern port side. Personally I do not think it is fixable, figuring it is impossible to match 14 year old gelcoat with magic in a bottle.

finally got the new soft top installed on the grady

Looks great. Nice job. How do you like that LED spreader? 1 is enough, right?

Side mount or hardtop mount outriggers?

I have the wishbone side riggers on my last 2 boats. I like them. Easy to operate, within reach for me. I have never used top riggers, so no comment on them at all.

    282 Sailfish Spotlight mounting location

Please do not put it on top of the dome. That would look bad. I had one on my last boat, rarely used it but when I did (for anchoring), no issues with glare. With the Grady, I never boat at night and if I did, still wouldn't use it except for maybe while dropping the hook or retrieving it. This...

    330 Express opinions

LOL I am sure but I am burning about the same with what equates to a canoe compared to your 33. Actually makes me want one more. Down the road though. My 28 is still new to me, have about 2 hours on the motors this season so far, just got launched last week after working on it in the cold the...

    282 Sailfish Spotlight mounting location

Mount it on hardtop center, right in front. If radar is too close to allow that, mount it to the side right over helm, also at the front of the hardtop.

Well, then it is good news to know that we won't get punished at the fuel dock for moving up when the time comes.

    330 Express opinions

Well, my personal opinion is many fuel numbers are very optimistic. My 272 surveyed at 1.4 mpg with full tanks and 4 adults. What I am really getting (overall) is 1 to 1.1. I am sure at a certain speed and conditions, over a period of time for a long cruise, the 1.4 (or a tad more) is possible...

    BoatUS april seaworthy article

What a shame. Hoses need to be replaced and through hull fittings need to be re-bed on occasion. Mine is a 2000. 15 years is about as long as I am comfortable with. Next winter mine get gone, the main winter project to go along with an electronics upgrade.
