Took Factory Tour last Friday - WOW! - Incredible!

What's with the arguing? We are on this site for a reason... Grady fans helping Grady fans. If we wanted a Pursuit we would have bought freekin Pursuits. If I wanted flashy gelcoat I would have bought a damn bass boat. I looked at Pursuits when shopping for my current boat. Wasn't interested...

    Trophy Pro Washdown

Like it was said, access it through the port seat cabinet. I had to do the same with mine in my Gulfstream. Instead of buying a new pump (which can be pricy), I took the pump side of the motor apart and found it completely clogged up. The motor was fine. I cleaned it out, put it back together...

    Tow vehicle opinions

Respectfully disagree on the manual tranny. I drove stick shift cars for years, but, pulling a boat up the ramp, or worse, pulling your trailer and boat up over the edge of a ramp stinks. If you are not used to driving a stick shift, you will hate the manual in short time.

    Thru Hull Transducer question

This past Spring I put in an Airmar B-60-20 Tilted Element thru hull transducer. It works GREAT! I can read bottom up to WOT (45 mph) and I have read fish up to at least 35 mph. It was a very good purchase for me. I installed it myself, and the install was no problem. I have yet to break lock...

    232 Gulfstream

Mine has transom mounted engines. Used it in the Chesapeake Bay until I retired from active duty AF. Now fish it in Lake Erie. I love it for trolling because I can fish over the motors easily. I troll four dipsy divers a side for Walleyes, and set out lines and bring in fish up the chute.

    Scupper Hose Replacement

After I get the deck fittings (I already have the transom scuppers) I will put them all in. Since the hose from deck fitting to scupper is so short, it seems to me that trying to bend the new hose to install on the hose barbs would be very difficult without breaking an old plastic fitting. My...

    Scupper Hose Replacement

Anybody have a lead for a stainless fitting for the deck fitting? I would almost bet, if you try to replace the hose for the scupper you are going to trash the plastic deck fitting.

    Replacing a gas tank

The screen at the bottom of the pickup tube in the tank may also be clogged. Happened to me, with same symptoms as yours. To get to it you will need to disconnect the fuel line next to the anti-siphon valve. The pickup tube can then be unscrewed from the tank. I would remove the screen at the...

Sea Star tilt helm leak- 272 Sailfish

You should be able to detect fluid coming from under the wheel if it is a shaft seal problem (stuff a scott towel between the steering wheel and pump unit and run it like that for awhile). If you have fluid there it is either the steering shaft seal or fluid coming down from the fill cap. The...

    Gulfstream 23

Before you buy a new pump, try taking the old one apart. My washdown/livewell pump wasn't working when I bought my boat. I pulled the pump head apart and it was totally gunked up in there. After a thorough cleaning, I put it back together and it worked just like new (and it's still working 9...

Sea Star tilt helm leak- 272 Sailfish

First of all, if it's a leak from the steering shaft seal, check out this website for details on how to change those seals: http://www.continuouswave.com/whaler/re ... xSeal.html I had a leak coming from behind the console. It ended up being from the two relief valve caps located on either...

    repower cost

    I sold an '89 175 HP carbed Merc in 2005 on e-bay for $2,000.

    Advise Needed

The last one to two trips before layup throw in some Stabil so that stabil'd gas runs through the lines and motor then put it away with the gas that remains. If you have Racors, that will take care of any condensation. However, I will say, up here in Ohio with the boat layed up for 5 months, I...

Where is the water pump for the sink on 23' gulfstream

On my '89, it is under the port pedestal seat. Pull out the tackle storage box, and the pump is next to the fresh water tank. You will have to unbolt a couple 2X4s to get your head down in there.

    1988 Grady-White Repower question

I've got an '89 Gulfstream which had the Black Max 175 carbed motors on it like yours. Back in 2005, I bought a used 2003 and 2004 CR Merc 150 EFIs for $7,800 for the pair from a private seller. The motors are visually identical (same stickers, colors). The previous owner of the 150s wanted to...

Still glad you "Got the Grady?"

Absolutely. The only thing I would replace it with is a 265.

Gas and Winterize Question ? Full Tank are Empty ????

Seasick, I'm with you. I put the boat away with the gas left over from the last trip out. I've got twin tanks, one of which I stabil'd and ran down to about 5 gallons with several trips remaining to go in the fishing season. I ran on the other tank the last several times out, and it is about...

    Setting toe-in?

Bob, yes, this is correct. For my boat I had to shorten the tiebar. Now, this is for a pre SV2 hull with the motors on the transom. I can't vouch for what motors on a bracket will work best at. Also, I would think that your optimum setting would be slightly different for differing rpm settings...

    Setting toe-in?

Bob, I think this was discussed last year here. When I first set up my motors after putting them on, I set them at parallel. To check and see where they wanted to run at, I put the boat at my usual cruise speed and had someone take the wheel while I went to the back to disconnect the tiebar...

what's the bare minimum power for a '93 Gulfstream ?

I had twin 175s on my boat, and upgraded to twin 150 Merc EFIs in 2005. With the 175s (1989 model carb engines), the boat topped out at 40 mph. With the 150s I get 46 mph. To me, 150 2-strokes are great power. They say, if the 150s/175s/200s have the same block size, the lower hp motor will have...
