200HP Yamaha motor loses power - question

Did you ever get an "overheat" alarm at any time while the flush fitting was loose and leaking water ?

Yamaha tilt-support - do you use?

Not sure I agree with this theory because there is an even larger zinc piece that is bolted to the bottom of the outboard bracket that is always in the water when docked. '05 300 Marlin F250's[/quote Yep. Which is why I started the post with "lots of confusion". That was the "official" Grady...

Yamaha tilt-support - do you use?

Re the lower part of the engine in the water. Lots of confusion there. Here's what I've been told: Grady White- lower the engine all the way down because otherwise the zinc tab is not in the water and is not protecting the LU from galvanic corrosion. Yamaha- keep that sucker up as...

    228 Upgrade Seat Options?

Absolutely. Will do tomorrow...but meanwhile, if you want to sit backwards you can simply lift the seat up off of the base and put it back down facing the stern or even the side (assuming the armrests are what are blocking you from rotating the seat)

    Best Windlass for a 228?

Agree with renovator. My used 228 has the Lewmar 700. It came with 30' of chain and is way more than adequate. Only wish that it was free fall.

    228 Upgrade Seat Options?

FYI..measured between the two seats. Armrest to armrest 121/2 inches. Cushion to cushion (without armrests) 141/2 inches. These are the pompanette with armrests..deluxe I think. As I said ..VERY tight

Yea or Nay on Replacing the Gas

First of all, Im NOT the original poster with the problem. Second, the original poster asked how long stabilized gas is good for. I simply responded by giving him Stabils claims..not mine. Seems that you might be a little sleepy yourself

    228 Upgrade Seat Options?

Thanks for the info. I must have the same seats....bought the boat used so I don't know if they were an upgrade option or not. Before I remove them I'm going to measure armrest to armrest between the seats. I cant believe that it's anymore than 18 inches.

Yea or Nay on Replacing the Gas

Q: How long will STA-BIL Fuel Stabilizer keep fuel fresh? A: STA-BIL® Fuel Stabilizer will keep fuel fresh for up to 12 months, guaranteed. Depending on the quality, type and source of the gasoline, as well as storage conditions, doubling the dosage rate of STA-BIL could prolong this storage...

Yea or Nay on Replacing the Gas

I would feel better if you said that the tank was FULL for the 2 years that it sat. Half full leaves a lot of room for condensation IMO. I think it boils down to doing what seasick recommended or draining the tank as I wouldn't just add gas and go for it. If its a fairly new engine w/ injectors...

    228 Upgrade Seat Options?

I have the Pompanette seats with armrests on my 2010 and I can tell you it is VERY tight to get between those seats. I am average height and about 165 lbs and I cant imagine a bigger guy dealing with that. Also, the companion seat doesn't swivel much because of the armrests and the back of the...

    Fuel Filter Change - Priming

Best advice that I can give you is to fill that Yamaha filter with fresh fuel before you screw it on. To do otherwise could leave you open to potential priming issues and workarounds . I followed that advice when I did mine and it was a snap.
