OX66 saltwater series II exhaust spitting water

Yep..as ahill says,Yamaha has addressed different "exhaust patterns" and mentions each engine is different and that as long as it doesnt overheat you should be good to go. Hope thats reassuring for you.

"Dave it looks like the port engine is idling much higher. That would surely cause it." x2

Cleaning Spark Plugs or Replacing with New?

This is what I was taught when I took an outboard course many years ago. 1-Remove the spark plugs 2-Throw them in a bucket of clean water 3- Reinstall any that float..

    Thermostats

Seems fairly ugly for 200 hours. Do you flush the engine after each use?

New (old) Grady owner here, some questions

Im not really drawing the connection here between seals and a hydraulic shop. You can get "o" rings for the gas and water caps at west marine (bring the old ones). You can get the "gas lifters" that help open and close the hatches at many sites online...tale the make off of your current ones...

outboards not all the way out ?

Like seasick said, depends on the hull, mounting, engine etc. Mine is a newer model but unlike tashmoo, there is no contact between the engine and the transom and there's plenty of clearance (bracket mounted) but it does get close to the swim platform when fully tilted...just seems the engine...

Opinions on F350 V-8 vs twins

The wide beamed 232 with a single on a bracket can be challenging in reverse. Add in tight docking, current and wind and it can be a nightmare. Just another factor to take into account when making your decision of single vs twins..good luck

    really need guidance

You asked for guidance , and I believe that you've gotten excellent, real world responses, with explanations. They all seem to tell you that you will regret it going down (25% ) in horsepower. I understand the money factor and agree with the poster that suggests a later model used four stroke...

    Adding a 2nd engine

Cheaper solution = Sea tow or Boat US tow membership. How far out are you going on a 20 footer that it might take 10 hours to get to you?

    Volvo Penta exhaust manifolds?

(cont'd) The risers ARE saltwater cooled and I would change them being they are at least 5 years old.

    Volvo Penta exhaust manifolds?

Are you SURE that you dont have a fully " closed" cooling system where the coolant runs through the manifolds as well? Its hard to tell from your post with references to fresh water. I would think that if they were saltwater cooled they would be toast after 14 years but who knows for sure...

Freedom 255 Fuel Burn, Looks Bad??

If I were to be consistently making 70 mile runs offshore I would opt for the twin 150's. Read somewhere that they burn 12 gph at cruise on that boat. I actually looked at one at the boat show and thought they were pretty nice. That being said I dont know if the dual console configuration would...

    228 Seafarer question

Thanks for your reply,Bob..tried reaching down there but it's not gonna happen because a bunch of hoses etc in the way. Maybe I can put a pvc tube down there and spray it in that way. Only worry because I had the handle rust off in another boat I had. As far as the ball itself , I saw someone...

    Raw Water Outlet Fitting

Depending how far forward you plan to move that fitting, is it possible that you may wind up with less than acceptable water pressure as you get further away from that pump in the stern?..not really sure but something that you may want to consider before you do the work.

    228 Seafarer question

Does anyone perform any annual maintenance on the seacocks located under the livewell? I could probably grease the ball from under the boat but would like to spray the exterior, handles etc with some 656 as well. Anybody have any tips that dont include pulling the livewell itself? It seems the...

225 OX66 Service issues with local Grady dealer in Ohio

"When under load the “water” in the tank moved around causing the engine to run fine at one moment, until the fuel/water separator loaded up with too much water and the engine would reduce down until it received sufficient fuel back to it. This was causing the engine to run rich." Having a...

    Engine Winterization Work

You have an F225; OP has an F 250... Bigger with multiple water inlets so cooling requirements are different. Safest bet is to check the owners manual for your particular engine.
