    Kicker motor fuel line

I have a 9.9 - 4 stroke mounted on my 25ft. Sailfish. It is an I/O rather than in outboard. I did not use a valve and it works just fine. Try it, if one engine robs gas from the other causing a starting problem then go for the valve.

    Yamalube or Evinrude oil

In the summer of 2007 I put 400 hours on a 1992 Johnson 115 HP. The GPS measured 1,400 miles traveled. Most of those hours were slow speed trolling for walleye on inland lakes or salmon on Lake Michigan. (I could not get the Grady out of storage because of a seawall failure at my dock.)...

    fuel fill o-ring

You should be able to buy them from an industrial distributor. Look in the yellow pages under "Rubber Products". They should fit a bit snug. A tiny bit of grease on them will not hurt and probably prolong their life.

    Converting I/O to an Outboard

I converted an 18ft. aluminum boat from an I/O to an outboard. It has been 6 or 7 years now and it has been a suscessful conversion. I agree with Gerry. Check the stringers for rot. I replaced the transom plywood (rot) with three pieces of 3/4" plywood epoxied together for a thickness...

need advice for potential kicker motor on Seafarer 228G

Yes, a 9.9 HP will push you along at that speed. I use a 9.9 on a 25 ft. Sailfish and 6 - 7 would be top end. You can mount it on a set-back bracket that does not move and use the tilt to bring the prop out of the water. Or, you can get a lift. A lift should be heavey duty and have a...

    Fishing in O.C. Maryland

If anyone gets to the mid-west and wants to try salmon, steelhead, lake trout fishing on Lake Michigan send me a PM. I would like to trade trips. I fish out of a 25 ft. Sailfish with downrigges, planner boards, etc. I troll as many as nine lines. And, I should have the Auto Pilot installed...

    Down rigger angle.

http://www.cabelas.com/cabelas/en/templ ... ISO-8859-1 Here is a swival base on Cabels'a website. Most are universally drilled to accept all makes of downriggers. There are also different heights available. On the Great Lakes most down riggers and rod holders are mounted on "tracks"...

    Winter boat cover

The marine strage building where my boat is stored also has a dust problem. I bought a roll of light weight plastic sheeting and cover the boat with that. Inexpensive and works well inside a building.

    Stupid idea or???

John, I did the very thing you propose. One end of the line is tied off to the dock or lift and I have a loop in the other end that drops over the horn on the rear cleat. I did it so I could position the boat on the bunks where I want it. I wanted the bunks to extend one or two inches...

    Hydraulic Lock ???

I have never heard of this as an outboard problem. Only an inboard or I/O problem.

    Yellowing of gelcoat

Likely its a stain from the water. I have the same problem with fresh river water flowing into Lake Michigan. I use SnoBowl toilet bowl cleaner when it gets bad. Using a wax on the hull bottom inhibits the stain from coming back.

    Folding or removable trailer tongue

I saw them a few weeks ago in a local boat store. Kit was about $75.00. You will need to know your tongue's cross dimensions. I would think that sawing off your tongue would be about as painful as drilling a hole in your bottom.

    Question for Grady Inboard owners...

I can help. It is a U shaped piece of aluminum. It is designed to shed water to the side and onto the deck rather than down on the engine. My boat is in storage. Let me know if you need a picture.

    Towing other Boats

Put a commercial fishing net float on the bridle, maybe one float on each side of the middle hook. Also a float on the tow rope near the point where it connects to the bridle. Commercial net floats are available that have a hole through them large enough for a tow rope. Far better chance of...

    Engine size-ex manifold

Not sure but guessing it is a GM 4 cylinder. In Michigan it was called the "Iron Duke". Probably in the area of 120 HP. If I remember correctly the engine was first designed for the first GM front wheel drive cars back in the mid/late 1970s and was made in Pontiac. MI.

Hi all, new Grady owner here

I have a 9.9 HP Merc 4 stroke kicker on a 25 ft. Sailfish. I use it trolling for salmon. It will also get me back to the dock at 5 - 6 MPH. You have basically two choices for mounting bracket. The stationary bracket has a set back from the transom which allows the kicker to be tilted up...

Considering purchase of a 1988 Sailfish

I own a 1988 Sailfish 25 ft. Can't help with the O/B transom issue because mine is an I/O. The only negative I have is the wiring. I need a complete rewire job. Partly because I have added many things such as downriggers, autopilot, etc. The 1/2" plywood laminate bulkhead at the stearn...

    Trolling motor

I'm a salmon troller as well. We troll from 2.5 to 3.0 MPH for hours at a time. I have a 9.9 Merc 4 stroke with a TR1 auto pilot on it. Big engine is a 454 CI Mercruiser. It is not econimical to troll with that big block.
