    Down rigger mounting

On this side of Lake Michigan the trend is towards less down riggers and more dipsey diver, lead core and copper pulled on in-line planer boards. Based on that trend I mounted three Vectors on my 1988 25 ft. Sailfish. I can run 10 lines if I have enough people on board. Thats plenty of...

    kicker engine for seafarer 226

Based on my experience with a 9.9 HP Merc Big Foot model on a 25 ft. Salifish I would expect marginal performance. It would likely push your boat about 6MPH at full throttle. I troll for salmon on Lake Michigan at about 2.5 MPH. with no problems. Top end for me would be 6 - 7 MPH...

replacing fuel filler hoses on a 1988 sailfish

Guys, I have an 88 Sailfish I/O. Are your boats OBs? I wonder if there is a difference in the filler and overflow hose? This is a project I have scheduled for this summer along with replacing the plastic thru hulls.

Problem putting water pump back in.

Found another Grady owner with a 454 Mercruiser. I could take some pictures of the front end of my engine if you think it would help? I gather what your saying is that the v belt would be out of alignment because your pulley is either to far extended from the engine, or the opposite, to...

    Depth Finder Question

I'll take a shot at the questions to get a discussion started. First on the transducer question. Highly unlikly that both could function from one transducer - especially at the same time. They would both have to function with identical Hz. Likely that the Furuno was installed to replace...

    GPS/CHARTPLOTTERS/FISHFINDERS and DOWNRIGGERS

Everyone is entitled to an opinion as Mr. Reefer has stated his. Mine is different regarding mounting tracks and down riggers. It is my opinion that tracks do not gather dirt, grime nor tear your clothing. You can step on them without bending them. In fact you can easily remove you...

    GPS/CHARTPLOTTERS/FISHFINDERS and DOWNRIGGERS

I troll for salmon on Lake Michigan on a 25 ft. Grady Sailfish. I have 3 downriggers on the boat. Here are the products I used for mounting the downriggers. www.teclausa.com/bert/ I mounted 24" tracks directly to the gunnel covering the rear most rod holder. The swivel mount mounts in...

How do I find moisture in transom???

irI recently attended a seminar conducted by a reputable surveyor in West Michigan. Here are a couple of statements he made. He starts looking for moisture by look across the transom with his head close to the transom. He said he is looking for bulges in the gelcoat. He also does the...

    A kicker for a 226 Seafarer

I just measured my Merc 9.9. It is 25 inches. You measure from the centerline of the prop to the mounting bracket horizontal surface that sits on the transom. It's a bit trickey to get the motor lift mounted at the correct height. You want the cavitation plate a few inches below the hull...

rickmake, I have a 9.9 Merc 4 stroke big foot. It is a 1999 model year electirc start. It has been a great motor. Judging from your location your probably trolling for salmon. In a few weeks I will be on Lake Michigan trolling for Coho, Chinook, and trout. I just received shipment...

    A kicker for a 226 Seafarer

This company makes a good heavy duty motor lift type bracket - www.garelick.com. I would recommend the 14 inch travel lift. People who trailer any distance often have problems with the brackets breaking from the stress of bumps and potholes.
