Based on my experience with a 9.9 HP Merc Big Foot model on a 25 ft. Salifish I would expect marginal performance. It would likely push your boat about 6MPH at full throttle. I troll for salmon on Lake Michigan at about 2.5 MPH. with no problems. Top end for me would be 6 - 7 MPH...

Have you tried a polish with an electric buffer? 3M makes some good compounding/polish products. Something like 3M High Gloss Gelcoat Compound?

This company makes a good heavy duty motor lift type bracket - www.garelick.com. I would recommend the 14 inch travel lift. People who trailer any distance often have problems with the brackets breaking from the stress of bumps and potholes.
