    265 Express vs 282 sailfish

I owned the 282 and have a friend with a 265. If you want a hardcore fishing boat and don't mind using the berth as your main storage area then the 265 is a very good choice. If you want it to double as a family boat then the 282 is a better choice. With the 282 you will get a single berth aft...

    Livewell - AC Question

Ditto... Same as my 2005 Marlin. However, using the washdown pickup in this case makes sense being the a/c is an after production installation. Saves you a through hull pickup. You do need a shutoff valve somewhere between the factory tap and the livewell... just install it where you won't...

    Livewell Question

I'll bet money one of you two guys has nailed the correct answer for Fishtales. Electrical connections is probably the easiest to check first.

    Livewell Question

OnoEric... makes a lot of sense. I wonder how these impellars are attached to the shaft. If its with shallow splines(and some are damaged) I could imagine it slipping as pressure builds... but eventually you would think it would strip out completely.

Anybody notice one of the options for this boat is to be "CE Certified"?? I looked at the 282, 300, 305 and 275 and none of those list CE Certification as an option. This option is apparently required for boat manufacturers shipping boats into the European Union. Why wouldn't the manufacturers...

    Livewell Question

I keep my seacock closed all the time also when I'm not using the well. I've never had the problem you describe. I don't even hear a change in the pump as the water approaches the top of the well. My guess would be the pump... being it pumps fine till 3/4's full you can probably count on the...

I agree. Also agree with BobP on this looks like the 282 replacement. Really doesn't make sense adding this to their line without the 282 biting the dust. More range(fuel capacity) would have been great. With the exception of the above listed cons this is a nice looking boat. Lower looking...

Very well could be... our house has been hit twice and the power boat in back of me was also hit... in all cases wierd things happened(broke). On the power boat the windlass ended up with a problem where it would start to work and then just stop. Windlass had to be replaced but none of the...

Anybody having (or know of) problems with their F250's??

Thanks for all the feedback. Bob... your analysis is exactly what is churning in my head. Two motors will cost me almost $4500 for the warranty. That's a healthy chunk of money for peace of mind... and I really haven't heard of major problems with these motors (of course I could be the first...

Anybody having (or know of) problems with their F250's??

By this friday I have to decide whether to buy the Yamaha 3yr YES program before my 2005 F250's warranty expires. So I could really use your feedback. Have any of you heard of any serious problems with these motors. In the 3 years I've had them they have been flawless and I haven't really heard...

    Yamaha Guages Failed

Mike, I know I don't have to tell you this so please don't take it the wrong way... your motors are still under warranty so don't try to fix it yourself or you may end up paying for it. What is your confidence level in your dealer? Ask them what their plan of action is. Have they given up? If...

Gallons per hour on 1988 28' Marlin

Your firends boat is probably a 1989... that was the first year for the Marlin. He is probably burning around 25-28gph... that's about what the carb'ed yamaha 225's were burning on that boat.

    Fuel thiefs

Received a note from our marina this past week that fuel thefts have been reported on teh dock I'm on. Being our marina has a guard on duty every night who also walks the docks the belief is the crooks came in by boat using something quiet like a small flat bottom with an electric motor or oars.
