    My Grady was violated

I feel your pain....I had some gear stolen once. I'd make a list and post it here and on Craig's list and even THT. I'd like to think that most boaters wouldn't want to knowingly buy stolen gear. Who know's? Maybe lightening will strike, you'll get a heads up on your gear being sold, "bid"...

    Marlin Information

I've only owned my '90 Marlin for a few months and have only fished it a handful of times so far. All trips have been in the bay so far. As of now I'm impressed. Whether on the hook or drifting the boat handles wakes (large party boat type wakes) very well. My point of comparission is my...

    Cutting Board

Great pics and great design! How do you mount it to the boat? I was thinking about copying your design and using those sea suckers so it would be portable. Thoughts?

    Long-Term Winter Storage

Here is a link to an excellant article on condensation in fuel tanks http://www.yachtsurvey.com/myth_of_cond ... _tanks.htm It was written pre-E10 but I think it is still applicable in regards to how much (if any) water forms in a tank due to condensation. Pre-E10 I wasn't to worried...

    Long-Term Winter Storage

I've used Sta-bil's ethanol version in my Pacemaker's tanks and will be doing the same for my Grady.

    Vapor Lock???

Grog Both motors fired up on the Aux tank. I didn't get to take the boat this weekend but did run the motors at the dock. Both started right up. I'll check the fuel line distribution when I'm down there next time.

    Vapor Lock???

Trust me I'm taking nothing for granted and will be checking out the tanks. Not sure how much I'll be able to see once I pull the sending unit but I'll give it a shot. I do plan on filling up the main tank and will (if possible) run each motor on its own tank for now on so with luck I'll...

    Vapor Lock???

jehines That's exactely what a mechanic told me....open up a fuel fill....unfortunately that advice and the diagnosis came back at the dock. It does sound like this problem is, if not common, at least not uncommon. Live and learn I guess.

    Vapor Lock???

Grog Thats very interesting. So if I understand it this can happen any time I switch tanks. Someone had suggested to me (after the fact) that I could/should open the deck fill if it happens again. Your thoughts?

    Vapor Lock???

Thanks. You never know, right? It's a 1990 Marlin

    Vapor Lock???

Grog No bulbs on the Marlin. It has electric pumps. I did try and hold the pump switch on while starting them but it didn't help. I'm with you that I got an air pocket in there which I termed vapor lock for lack of a better term. Is there a trick to switching tanks that I'm missing?

    Vapor Lock???

Yesteday with the boat running great we set up on a drift for stripped bass. Both motors were idling and drawing off the main tank. I switched both motors to the aux tank while still idiling and with in 4-5 minutes both motors stalled and would not start. Switching back to the main tank...

    ValvTec DeCarb ???

Once again guys thank you for all the info. Took the boat out yesterday and the short stroy is I think I'm ok, but will be starting a new thread on a new issue. Golf is looking better and better. The slick out the back is coming from a leaky trim piston not my motor The smoke out of the...

    ValvTec DeCarb ???

Bob It's tough to describe but I'll try. First it shifts fine although it has at times stalled going in/out of gear. The motor was running rich and very tough to start (although I never did try the Yamaha recommended re-start for a warm motor) and after last weeks adjustment doesn't seem to...

    ValvTec DeCarb ???

Thanks for all the great info. I'm going to bleed the oil pump (looks pretty easy) and have the incoming mechanic check it out. The smoke looked white to me but I could be wrong. I had asked the outgoing mechanic about the difference in smoke/exhuast between the motors on day one. He...

    ValvTec DeCarb ???

Thanks guys I will give that a shot. To be clear, the possibility of there being any oil delivery issue only came to my attention as a possibility in the last hour or two. Since splashing the boat the motors have about 5-10 hours on them. The engine noise has existed since we...

    ValvTec DeCarb ???

Thanks and I do get the picture. The previous owner did have the boat in storage for a few years and I'm not 100% sure but I think he used Penzoil oil, which I understand from other threads here has a tendency to jell up. Thus I blocked oil line or lines is a very real possibility. Any...

    ValvTec DeCarb ???

The smoke on the "good" motor is white....it has a petroleum smell to it but I'll double check it. They are oil injected motors. Both of the auxillary oil tanks (not the one on the motor) seem to been at equal levels. Same for the tanks on the motor, but again I'll double check. If...

    ValvTec DeCarb ???

Ok...so I should try the "deepcreep" instead of the ValvTec decarb? Where can I buy it? Also just to pick your brain a bit on start up the "good" motor smokes until it warms up a bit (standard 2 stroke outboard stuff) but the "problem" motor has very little to no smoke....strange huh?

    ValvTec DeCarb ???

Thanks Grog I'll give it a shot this weekend. I know I'm being optomistic but if the compression is good I'd like to think its nothing major. I just want to get a good year out of these motors before repowering.
