    36 Express

Certainly not the trailer for that boat. The biggest thing I noticed was they had no safety chain on the bow eye just the strap. Things happen and that's not very smart. Obviously they just wanted to get the boat in the water at all costs. Don't know why the boat isn't bottom painted. But I...

    Bow Thruster Shear pin

I have a 2007 305 with the bow thruster. This spring I sheared the pin on the motor. There are two shear pins, one on the motor shaft and the other on the propellor shaft. They are two different sizes. Something is obviously amiss if you keep breaking the propellor shear pin. Please let us...

    Downrigger Mount

Ditto, I have 4 Canon's with 5 and 6 foot booms mounted to my 305 Express. 2 on the aft corner's and 2 right behind the forward rod holders. I used very large oversize 1.5" diameter heavy stainless washers or a backing plate where access was available. Make sure you check before you drill. I...

    Kicker HP?

I would recommend either the Yamaha 8 or 9.9. I use the 9.9 as a trolling motor on my 305 Express and it works fine. Can push and control the boat in seas up to about 4' and winds up to 15kts. Above that and it can't make the turns into the wind. I've actually trolled with it in 6 to 8' seas but...

    Beaching a Marlin

    10k, I would bet you're probably over 12.5k. Dry weight w/o engines is 8300.

    bottom Paint

Every boat that I've ever had bottom painted they made sure the bottom paint didn't come in contact with the metal of the outdrives or the trim tabs.

    330 Express- New guy questions

Can't speak to anything here but the Genset. I would recommend diesel and diesel only. I had one of the Kohler gas gensets on my Marlin and had constant problems with the choke, carb etc. It was rare that I would get a whole weekend of use without having to mess with one of the above. I...

Bow Thruster - Spares you need.

Re: shear pin Well I wasn't lucky enough to have them attached. I did a good inspection looking for spare pins and nothing. Thanks for the thought though.

Bow Thruster - Spares you need.

Re: bow thruster That's interesting that yours happened at 2 years as well. Mine wasn't broke it was just worn down to where it would stay in the slot. They use a compression type shear pin that seals as you pound it into the slot.

Bow Thruster - Spares you need.

Just thought I would post this as an FYI. If you have one of the Side Power Thrusters installed by Grady I would strongly recommend that you get at least one each of the shear pins for the prop and the electric motor. The one for the prop is easy as it's right behind the prop. However, the...

Where is the water coming from???

Ditto, my bet is the water was in your forward bilge the whole time. I have many times looked in my bilge to see it dry only to have the same thing happen. The forward bilge area is lower in the Grady's I've owned and the only way to get the water to the rear is to run it bow high in the water...

    PROP Size....30 foot Marlin

Bobcat, the Marlin came with 17's when purchased. This was on the Yamaha 225's. Even with 17's on the Marlin I never got above 5800 rpm at WOT. My Express 305 came with the 19's and my maximum WOT is 5400 rpms. SS11 meant the Saltwater Series 2 props.

    PROP Size....30 foot Marlin

Just spotted this topic and it's right up my alley. I have a 305 Express with the 250's spinning the 19" SS11 props. I was going to call Grady this coming week to ask about performance. I can't get above 5400 with these props no matter how I trim or what I do. I had 17's on my previous Marlin...

    Draining 4Stroke engine oil

Yamaha actually recommends the use of a pump and extracting the oil through the dipstick tube. They also state to check/change with engine level and not tilted. I bought a unit many year's ago that consists of a vacuum pump motor mounted on the top of a 5 gallon propane canister. Works great...

    B260/SS270W versus SS264 pair

Ed, I would agree that you can't beat the B260 in a fairing block for overall performance at speed and at depths of 300' plus when drifting and trolling. However, for the style of fishing we do here for Salmon the wide angle 264 would be a fabulous transducer. I've talked a bunch with Airmar...

    B260/SS270W versus SS264 pair

Wow Ed, so that whole plug I see in the bottom pic was fiberglassed up into the hull? That was some work and the finished product looks very nice. So as I get this you were making sure that the fairing doesn't stick below the keel as you thought that it would have then became a rudder...

    B260/SS270W versus SS264 pair

Sounds like all the dealer's say the same thing about the B260 and fairing block. It is very large. Yet it seems their are folks who put them on. I don't want the shoot thru as there's no good spot to put that one and I've always heard that they don't work that well a good percentage of the...

Sea board, king starboard, etc. in GW cream color?

Have you tried your local Grady dealer. The dealer her in Washington stocks the starboard and caulk. I just get whatever I need from them. Great price as well.

    B260/SS270W versus SS264 pair

I thought I had this all figured out but problems have cropped up. I had planned to replace my B117 transducer with the SS264W pair. They have been on order now for two months. Just this week I learned that Airmar has actually stopped shipping the B164 and SS264 series because of vibration...
