    SCUPPERS ON SAILFISH

i got an '02 and i think your '00 scuppers are in the same place; you can see them (barely) when you open the seat hatch but are near impossible to get at; i guess you would have to cut some flooring away but dunno.... --slugg

    330 Express - F250's - Prop Selection

while i don't have your boat (i have a 282 w/ twin f225's) i experieced the same problem in rough seas and it is very difficult to get in any sort of groove; in my experience in a following sea, when the waves are close together and steep, it is very difficult to get continuous bite from the...

GW 300 F350s what is the max RPM? UPDATE!!!

prolly have to trim out your engines; i got a 282 w/twin f225s and also experienced lower speeds then the specs indicate but raising the engines a few bars made some difference; note that usu the specs are under ideal conditions which you almost never experience anyway; -slugg

    F225 Cowling Care

curious how people care for the cowlings on yamahas? mine are 2002 and are still in pretty good shape; i put woody wax on them to keep 'em shiny and dirt-free but only lasts a couple of weeks; want a longer-lasting solution.....anybody use the same wax they put on the hull/topsides...

    Sailfish: helm seats?

looking to take the armrests off the left seat of my 02 sailfish for more room -- i took a look at it but appears the armrest is one piece and goes under the seat and is an inregral part of the chair which is bolted down; curious if anyone has done this and is it really that simple or am i...

New guy with questions about differences in 282s

most sailfish (i have an 02) have 5 launchers on top; mine were factory installed with the hardtop; if you want , u can attach the horizontal bar yourself and attach the taco screw-on model up top; i think it looks a bit nicer if they are actually welded (custom job) but will be more $...

    Sailfish Fuel Tanks

curious if you guys wash your fuel tanks 2 or 3 times a season by lightly squirting fresh water on top of the tanks via the deck plates; manual says to do that and dealer said it is good idea to remove salt crystals and other dirt on the tanks.... --slugg.

Trim / Tilt position when docked

you read it correctly in the manual; most people don't follow that procedure to retract the rods into the tubes and engage the lever; never heard of anyone having any problems with just raising the engines (leaving the rods up) and just walking away; if u are in a mooring/dock where you...

    Steering Fluid

    1. check what type u have; 2. use the appropriate sea-star hyd fluid; 3. download the guide from teleflex - seastarsteering.com 4. follow procedure in the manual to fix/top-off; 5. get mechanic to fix if u find a major problem or is too complicated; --slugg

    T-Bag my Sailfish

not sure what a "tbag" is but i have a mesh sack that is tethered to the alum supports on the hard top (much the same way a canvas t-top on a center console looks like) and it works great to hold stuff on my sailfish; it is just tied down approx every 2-3 inches in a spiral wrap on all four...

    Testing Bilge Pumps

yep...gonna do just that; so i guess any water that is in the forward bilge or amidships will stay there while boat is resting in the water unless you raise the bow by running the boat with the bow up for a while to drain it so the aft bilge will pump it overboard; thx. --slugg

    Testing Bilge Pumps

No aversion - will do it; I spray the tops of the gas tanks 3 times a year to remove salt and crud; I assume that water just goes into the bilge and gets puped out by fwd or aft pumps; is there a hole that runs the length of the boat thru all the stringers?

    Testing Bilge Pumps

boat is in the water; i have a sure bail (it's blue) for both forward and aft bilge on my 282; the forward bilge had about an inch of water or maybe an inch and a half and it didn't come on automatically and didn't pump it when i manually turned it on; i assume the blue part is the...

    268/270 or 272/282

two different boats in length/weight which will handle a bit differently in different seas; aside from trailering (which favors an 8 1/2 ft beam on the islander), if you can afford it, always go with the bigger boat....my $.02 --slugg

    Testing Bilge Pumps

on my '02 282, i can run the bilge pumps briefly to see if they are operating (they are) but is there any easy way to run them to see if they actually expel water, short of dumping water into the bilge? --slugg

    If I didn't already have a dock-box

yeah - this is great for the price but i need a lock and need to screw it down to the dock; does it have holes in the bottom to pass bolts?
