    Re: Wood Flour I hope I used enough thickened resin on the hatch....guess I'll find out in a little bit. May try to get some mat strips around the edges later today and put a layer over the whole thing tomorrow. I will try to take some pics.....don't care if it's pretty, just wanna make sure...

    Re: Wood Flour I just used 1/2" ply for the core. Just finished installing the ply..... Coated the side of the ply that mates to the hatch w/ unthickened resin, then coated the underside of the hatch w/ thickened resin, put down the ply and added some weight. This is really my 1st time doing...

    Islander 270 Windlass Upgrade

    Very nice job on the install..... One word of caution though. I have the same Windlass and in the manual it say the gypsy needs to be removed yearly, cleaned and re-lubed. I did not do this the 1st few years and it failed....I never noticed the warning. They did replace it under warranty...

    Temp vs. Resin

    I bought Polyester Boaters Resin from West Marine. Says not to use less than 60*...........it's only supposed to be in the low 40's today? Whats the risk if I do it today?

    Gas Tank Hatch Recore

    Haven't installed the ply yet, ran out of time yesterday. So my plan is to wet the hatch, put down a layer of mat, wet the ply and weigh it down on a flat surface for it to cure. After that cures I plan on putting 2 layers of mat on top of the ply. Sound like a plan?

    I'm not too familiar with glass work.....so should I lay a layer of mat, wet it, install the core (plywood) and the cover it with another layer of glass after it dries?

    Considering "recoring" the deck over the tank on my offshore...... Have seen threads on this but maybe someone can point me in the right direction.......maybe post a link. And.....being that I'm on long Island, what is the powest temp you can fiberglass at? Thanks in advance........
