    180 Sportman - cooler question

Yes. Give that a try. I lift up the seat (stern to bow direction) and then lift the cooler lid in the same direction. Works great, just use your upper arm to hold the seat up and the cooler lid with you hand. I leave the cooler under the seat and very seldom take it out of the boat at all...

    180 Sportman - cooler question

On my sportsman, I have the cooler opening facing the back of the boat and I just lift the seat to open the cooler. Are you talking about the seat hitting the wheel or are you facing the cooler toward the front of the boat?

    180 Sportman - cooler question

Greg, I know what doesn't on my 2002 sportsman...just by a 1/2 or so in width (front to back). I bought an 18 x18 x 30 frigid rigid after measuring but didn't account for the outside hinge depth. The cooler slides under the seat and is not too tall but will not open but a short distance due...

    Water intrusion???? 228 Seafarer

Close seacocks. Put plug in hull. While on the trailer, fill the bilge with garden hose until bilge pump comes on. Turn bilge pump off (disconnect from battery) Add a few more gallons of water. Get down where you can see if it is draining back out seacock or other location. (Don't overload...

    DIY Livewell

I have had both the factory set up on an earlier 208 and now have a kodiak. Hands down, the Kodiak is the better setup. I have mine set up to feed from the raw water wash down and has a 2" hose that drains overboard. I also made my somewhat portable (hook it up to the back porch on a golf...

    Bow to Stern Drain Pipe??

Your "dealer/stealer" must not be looking for return business if he was already coming out for warranty work and charged you at all. Too bad he didn't know his boats. He and I would have had a battle over that $165. I may not have won but he would have paid in the long run as soon as I...

    Bow to Stern Drain Pipe??

Go here and click on 1990 owners manual. When PDF opens, scroll down to page 58 and see if the hull looks familiar. http://gradywhite.com/customer/manuals/download.php?modelyear=1990&name=1990&model=Owners_

    engine trouble

Fred, What are your gauges telling you? Temperature or oil flashing? Also, are you saying the alarm only goes off at low rpm and is ok at high rpm? What maintenance has been done in past two years with regard to cooling and with regard to cleaning oil filter at remote oil tank?

    Yamaha Tach Failure

Will you define "failed". Is everything dead, nothing lit up? Do you get anything on the screen? I would start with all the ground wires and make sure everything is tight.

    Recommendations for Binoculars

I bought these Tasco Offshore 50's about 10 years ago and have been exceptionally pleased with the optics and with how they have withstood weather conditions. I also have some Steiners and they are excellent as every knows. http://www.opticsplanet.net/tasco-binoculars-offshore-os541.html

    250 Yamaha '2000 2 Stroke Overheating

Went through the same thing with a 2001, 150 and ended up pulling the water jacket from the cylinder head on the starboard side. Jacket was semi-clogged with junk. Just enough to allow running below 4000 or so but would trigger the alarm above 4000. I used my IR gun to troubleshoot which bank...

    1991 Spirit 175 vs 1995 17' Boston Whaler Dauntless

Griff, I previously owned the 17 spirit and later owned an 18 dauntless. For me, I would go with the Grady everytime. In my opinion, the whaler does not compare in workmanship to the Grady. I was really disappointed in the whaler after everything that I had read about them. I guess the...

    1991 Spirit 175

Rob, I have owned both the 17 spirit and the 18 sportsman. Actually, there is quite a bit of difference in the two. The 18 sportsman has the variable deadrise sea V2 hull and the 17 spirit did not. The weight difference was also significant, a little over 600lbs (2150 on the 18 without the...

    Oil problem with Yamaha 175

Thirty minutes seems like a short amount of time for the engine tank to run dry if you filled it up. When you moved the slider did you notice the black "float" on the slider. I once found mine in the bottom of the tank. When your engine mounted tank is empty or below the fill line, turn on...

    New Grady Owner!!!

No need to feel that way...I had the same problem with the Mercury outboard motor trim switch on the throttle. I was use to the Yamaha switch and never did get the hang of it. Had to think about it every time I went to trim in or out. Sold the mercury and went back to and have stayed with Yamaha.

    New Grady Owner!!!

I believe you will find the wiring for the tabs is correct. When you push the right rocker switch forward (top), the left trim tab moves down and causes the boat to tilt to the right and nose in a little. This way you don't have to stop and think about what is really happening. If you want...

Oil reservoir on 1990 250 V6 not filling Head tank reservoir

Just-In-Time has your answer. He can get you the ten minute check sheet to troubleshoot the problem. Get in touch with him. I was using the wrong terminology when I said "tilt switch". It is actually a "trim" lever that sits on the engine tilt tube. It is a black plastic piece about an inch...
