    FREEDOM 335

Saw the boat at the Miami boat show and although it is really nice, it's not for me. It is really big and and has lot of space for entertainment and excellent for day trips. But as a fisherman it doesn't compare to the center console. You could fish from the bow or stern of the 335 but that's...

Where to mount an EPIRB on a Grady?

I installed mine like Fishtales, although my boat is a CC. Although I originally thought I wanted a Cat I, I decided on a ACR Global Fix Pro cat II after a lot of research. It sits within reach at the helm and whenever I go out, I give my passengers instructions on how to activate it. Hope we...

port a poti with macerator- Where's the #2 go?

I have a porti potty with a macerator discharge too so yours is probably similar. The holding tank is the porti potty itself. It is plumbed to an overboard discharge with a macerator AND it is plumbed to the pump out located on the top of the gunwale. Keep it mind you can only use the...

BOAT LIFT FOR A 22-8 will 4000lbs work

That sounds a bit light for a 228. My 222 is pushing 4500 by the time you figure weight of the boat, motor, full tank of fuel, full water tank, gear, your weight when you go in the boat in the lift, etc. I'd go heavier. I use a 10,000 pound lift for mine; overkill but I'm set for my next...

Livewell pump replacement on a 257

I can't get to mine to replace through the access port either so I have to pull one of the panels. Not really a big problem. I cut through the caulk with a razor, take out the deck screws and lift off the panel. Once the panel is off, it's easy to access the pump and replace it. After I'm done...

    Ring Free Source

You really have to look at the shipping charges for anything you find on-line. I found it for $33/qt. but $9/quart to ship it. I can buy it locally for that. Also found one site that wanted $20/quart to ship. Advertised prices aren't always what you get when you figure the total.

Looking to move my Grady to Flordia ?

Well, there's no state income tax in Florida but you will have a sales tax which you don't have in Delaware. If you are anywhere near the water your homeowner's insurance will most likely be higher than Delaware due to hurricane potential. If you are looking at buying a place, make sure you get...

Looking to move my Grady to Flordia ?

I'm not familiar with Apollo Beach but we went through the search 6 years ago and ended up further south in Punta Gorda. Great boating community, a bit warmer than Tampa in the winter, boat on a canal in the backyard, and quick access to Charlotte Harbor which is a huge playground without...

    boating courses

There are several on line courses. The Power Squadron offers one at http://www.usps.org/ . I'm sure in the area you live there are courses offered especially this time of year when no one is boating. Check with your local Power Squadron or Coast Guard Auxiliary. There are also courses they...

    22' GW Fisherman Questions

Mine is an '06 and it has an enclosed head with a macerator; not a big compartment but it serves the purpose. Not sure what year they started with the enclosed head. A 200 hp motor might be a bit undersized. Mine has a 250 and 225 is the lowest I've seen on the 222; haven't seen any with a...

    Metal Cleaning/Waxing

I started using Alumaguard based on the recommendation of a guy that details Grady's. Get a pair of cotton gloves and spray the polish on the gloves; makes it a breeze to apply to t-tops, tubes, etc. It's hard to find but I found it at at he dealer where I bought my boat. Here's the link to...

    live well use

Not sure how the 2005 Fisherman is set up and you mentioned live wells "plural". My 2006 Fisherman has one live well; behind the helm seat. Hatches up front with rubber stoppers are fish boxes with drains. For the live well to operate, you must open the seacock that is accessible through the...

    Sunglasses for Fishing

The reader bifocals aren't prescription; you can buy them off the shelf, although a store may need to order them for you if they don't have them in stock. They make 3 strengths in a few different styles. The Costa website will show them. I think it's best to try them on before you buy them to...

    Sunglasses for Fishing

I have both Maui Jim's and Costa's and although I like the Maui's for driving, I love the Costa's for fishing. I got the Costa's in gray with the built in reader bifocals so I can see when I'm tying knots. Before I got them I was constantly taking off my sunglasses and putting on my reading...
