    New Boat - 2014 232

Beautiful Boat! I love my 228 but the 232 is really the only other boat I would consider if I ever sold. On the bracket, it's more than likely the upper access port. If they still close them the same, they've got a plastic ring that is secure but prone to leaking. I think most all bracketed...

How do I not overfill my tank?

More than likely the tank is/was installed a little off level and traps an air bubble that slips to the fill area just as the tank tops off. If it were mine, I would observe where the fill hose enters the tank and manipulate the boat to make sure that side is higher on the next fill up to see...

    Blocking/Lifting a 228G from Trailer

Then 3 points it is. If I went with jack stands/pads, are there some you would recommend? The height from the concrete pad is 33" to the outside edges of the boat. The outside flat surface of the hull is directly over the trailer so I won't be able to block there. A jack stand could go...

    Blocking/Lifting a 228G from Trailer

Thanks, I think what I'll do is set up a couple boat stands on the outside positions for balance and build a couple beefy block/cradle supports to jack up two strong points on the keel. I want to be able to work on the trailer where she sits; I've got air, power and all the tools I need right...

    Blocking/Lifting a 228G from Trailer

Thanks for the ideas and suggestions! I'll start working on a couple good supports with jacks to get er' up and off the trailer.

Instead of snakes on plane- ants on a boat

Years ago I had ants take over a bass boat and got rid of them with those small ant traps and bug spray. All it takes is just a smidgeon of food to get em' going. Since that time have always sprayed insecticide around the trailer wheels and jack stand as insurance and never a problem again.

    Blocking/Lifting a 228G from Trailer

I've finally got my 228 on a solid concrete pad and protected under a carport. The trailer needs some work so I would like to lift her right where she is to do the work rather than launching somewhere and have to dedicate specific time to get things done; I don't need to remove the trailer...

228 Rear Seat Back - Removable Brackets

I guess that's what it was. The clips I saw were probably just the standard clips without the @#$# screws. Makes sense....I think I'll just clip em' in but maybe put a discreet lanyard of some sort so they can't leave the boat.

228 Rear Seat Back - Removable Brackets

Thanks John, I had done that just before the post to make sure it wasn't there and had missed it; you're right it is a cheesy looking installation. It was a metal bracket that looked like it snapped in place. I didn't pay that much attention at the time, just that they were not there and the...

228 Rear Seat Back - Removable Brackets

When I shopped for my Grady 4 years ago, I came across one 228 that had brackets that made the rear seat back(s) either side of the baitwell removable. But for the life of me, I've not been able to find them. Mine are permanently mounted in and I would really like to take them out during...

    Yamaha repower

My 228 performs very well with the F250 but I'd probably research Honda's BF250 before making the decision. I've read reports of better fuel economy but haven't seen anyone post 228/BF250 numbers. For me I would not go with less than a 250; it's not so much about top end as it is just having...

Overheat Alarm at Idle - F250

When I saw the design I figured it happened quite often. Just for info, the previous mechanic apparently over-torqued the housing causing 2 bolt holes to have a faint crack. So I bought a new housing; it's only $27. But I noticed the new housing has been modified with 9 tiny tabs around the...

Overheat Alarm at Idle - F250

There's an o-ring seal at the bottom of the pump housing that can slip out of position during installation. If it gets pinched off, water pressure can drop just enough to cause what you're experiencing, especially if the impeller has some wear.

228 Video - Deltaville to Occoquan

Great video! How many miles was the trip? I absolutely could not be happier with my 228; she "finally" gets a carport to live under this afternoon so the Florida sun only gets a shot when we're on the water.

How far is your average fishing trip from land

I would've written precisely the same except for a maximum distance of 40 miles from Florida's NW Panhandle. Most of our best fun is on a drop about 25 miles out where you never know WHAT will happen next.

New Etec on the market, impressions?

I like the technology they've come up with and hope at least some of it transfers to other manufacturers. But I have to agree the appearance is not that impressive.

    228G Performance Info

Cruise is just about dead on with mine. Top end for me with the right chop and wind just right is about 48 mph.

    cooler mounting 208/209/226

My yeti 105 has been sitting in my 228 for over 3 years without moving. Well, only when I move it for cleaning the deck. The feet have provided all the traction needed.

Microbial Growth inside your fuel system

It absolutely can occur. I spent about a week many years ago cleaning out a big kerosene fuel tank with scotch brite type pads. I can't recall what solution we used but talk about a meticulous process..... glad I never had to do it again.

    Trim piece fix?

Maybe this would work by replacing all the trim for that opening rather than splicing in a repair: http://www.ebay.com/itm/GRADY-WHITE-OEM-1-3-8-BEIGE-FLEXIBLE-TRIM-10-TAX-FREE-/290870346011 If not contact the seller, Taylor Marine, and they may having something comparable in stock. I got pin...
