Changing the oil in a Yamaha F-200 4-stroke

If the following link(s) match up to your engine, page 53 describes in detail how to change the oil. Make sure to check the effectivity on the 1st page: http://www.yamaha-motor.com/assets/service/manuals/1/LIT-18626-06-76_1214.pdf Or select your engine parameters here for the correct manual...

    Relocating batteries to bow?

I'm sure you've already checked but if not make sure the bracket doesn't have water in it. The bracket provides flotation too.

Changing the oil in a Yamaha F-200 4-stroke

I see it mentioned now and then about not getting all the oil out via vacuum..... fortunately, you never get all the oil out even if you remove the drain plug. If you're oil is so bad that a tiny bit of residual oil in the bottom of the oil pan will contaminate new oil, you have a problem...

Changing the oil in a Yamaha F-200 4-stroke

There's a number of different ways to keep residual oil from dripping all over. On my F250TXR I just use a ziplock bag/rag and have been successful in not allowing oil to drip on the engine. But make sure to pull up the owners manual to see what is recommended on your specific engine. On...

    Best Steering/ Autopilot for a Grady 228

Which model Honda to you have? I'm asking as originally I didn't plan on getting a kicker but reports have been pretty good on "High Thrust" kickers. Smoky, you don't know what you're missing with an AP. It's one of those things that if it broke on my boat I would not rest till' it was...

    Relocating batteries to bow?

I've only been using offshore boats for a few years but it sounds like you may have another problem to identify. I don't really see battery weight having that much affect on a boat that size. But to rule it out, get a few sandbags and place them to simulate what you're planning on doing to see...

    Best Steering/ Autopilot for a Grady 228

I also have the S1000 on my 228 but haven't had any drift issues although it can be finicky at times. At the $1000 price range, it's much less expensive than other AP's so there are trade offs. I think the slowest they recommend is 4mph so that may be a deal killer for your application.

Seafarer 228G: When Was The Last Major Design Change?

I would like to see pics too. I've considered doing something similar.

What could of caused this piston to melt?

Looks like something dropped in the cylinder too hard/large to slide down the side of the piston. And ran long enough to beat the ever' livin' crap out of the piston. What did the head look like? It should have marks similar to the center of the piston.

What do you like and dislike about your Grady?

And you saved me the time writing as well!

Anyone install an Intermittent Windshield Wiper switch?

Excellent! Thanks for the follow up. Now on to ordering... :D

Anyone install an Intermittent Windshield Wiper switch?

That should work! Looks pretty straight forward, keep us posted on how it turns out.

Anyone install an Intermittent Windshield Wiper switch?

I'd love to have one set up too! Just curious, in the brief search I just did it looked like all of them have a washer motor circuit. Does yours have one? I would think that one would terminate. What's the part number of the one you have?

    intro and 228 vs 232 vs 258

I would probably say the 232 for what you plan to do. IMHO, 228 to 232 is a breaking point for ease of loading/unloading at a ramp with the 228 being easy and 232 getting a little more difficult. Of coarse any of them can be trailered, there's just more chance of something happening the larger...

    Seafarer v. Overnighter

If you read the Grady 226-228 manual on page 8-6, they describe the reasons for using trim tabs. I used to fish bass boats big time, back when porpoising partially due to big engines was a real problem. And back then, I developed a fix for the boat I had which worked like a champ. In a...

    Seafarer v. Overnighter

Not sure if my 08' 228 is a different design altogether or what?? But she does not handle anything like you've described. Not at all..... She planes slow enough that I've never paid attention to the speed, have never noticed a yaw in any conditions, and handles great in larger seas for a 22'...

    Finally able to Grady shop!

I haven't experienced a spun prop either but have read once it happens, the repair often doesn't work well. I'd probably want a new prop in the deal. But as others suggested, I'll repeat which I don't do often, "get a survey." I am a seasoned mechanic as well, over 34 years of experience...

    Attacked by Grady White bashers

I don't think Grady really gets attacked much more than other brands. I know it seems so but that may be because we notice it more. Even Sea Hunts get beat on now and then at THT. But IMHO they can beat all they want because after 3 years, if the other models are anything like what I've...

    Which Lowrance ????

No doubt Garmin would be a great option too. With the Lowrance set up, you'll need a rate compass for chart overlay which was around $500 when I purchased mine.

    Which Lowrance ????

All mine are 1st Gen. Just to complete the system, I added a P66 transducer that I use many times in deeper water. I don't know that it makes too much difference but at minimum gives an added transducer should one fail or trip up as has happened. Here's a real life experience using these...
