A common problem with pulpit equipped boats is winch contact during launch. Whichever trailer you choose, be sure to require an at-the-ramp physical load/un-load try-out before paying the final bill. I didn't do this and ended up struggling to make it right over the coarse of 2-3 months afterward.
Of the 3 I found when I searched in about a 4 month period, 1 was about 400 miles away in Ft Meyers (an 06'), one 1 was in NJ (gone before I could look), and one was in Maryland; 2,000 round trip miles later, the Maryland boat was in the drive.
Most are going to be in the Northeast but they can be found in FL too. Finding late models, 3 years and younger is not easy... or at least it wasn't for me.
ayacht, I see you're struggling over wood built vs composite built but like what you see in Grady. The people on this board definitely know pretty much everything there is to know about Grady's. Concern over wood is valid to a degree but understand one thing on Grady's, you'll see 30 year old...
Both are great boats, I have the 228 and for my use wouldn't consider anything else. The extra room with the swim platform and stern would be enough but as already noted there are other substantial differences in layout. Mine is the same in relation to the lower unit staying in the water but I...
Congrats on the new ride, now pics are due! I got my 228 last November and have had her out probably 40 times since then. And the urge to go again just gets stronger; they're great boats for sure. We were out in 3-4's with an occasional 5' yesterday and not a problem trolling for kings...
I have no experience but if I were looking for it, I would download the manual 1st at : http://www.gradywhite.com/customer/manu ... arlin/300/
Then look at page 7-30 to identify which thru-hull provides venting for the generator. Then view inside to see where the exhaust hoses are routed...
I had an extension made to raise the height of my current seat while I look for new ones. One thought I had to was get one of the upgraded seats with armrests but only put the armrest on one side, 1 left side and 1 right side. That way the seats can be exchanged from one side to the other...
Bayrat, can you measure the width of your seats from armrest to armrest? Mine are molded plastic and this past week, I finally realized what it is that makes them uncomfortable. They have slight, low armrests built in that inhibit sitting sideways in the seat, so I have to sit full forward or...
I'll try to get some decent pictures and post. Seems when I hit the water, the last thing I'm thinking of is taking pictures. The S1000 pump was originally under the helm but when the power assist was installed, they moved it on under the right aft seat at the transom. After all these...
Great info guys, Thanks! I assumed the width would be difficult to get past due to the beam. I'm going to have to research deeper before making the plunge; hopefully, someone makes a seat where the armrest can fold up and retract inward. Many Aircraft seats do this for the same reason we see...
I have what is probably the standard issue seats in my 228 and hope to find a better solution for comfort. I don't even know what options are available but would like to find seats that would offer better back support and even lean back while at anchor and chillin'. Does anyone know who the...
I'm using 2 Lowrance HDS-8's with an ethernet cable. Every now and then it has trouble on locking on a waypoint but probably 90-93% of the time, it centers the waypoint. One thing that I've found interesting is the unit seems to lock on the route as much as the waypoint. If you keep that in...
I thought I would pass on what I've done to my 228 since buying it last November. I suppose we never completely finish changes but this one is pretty much where I want it and oh so nice to use! Anyway, here's the list:
Auto-Pilot, Raymarine S1000; awesome addition for ease of navigation and...
Great ain't it! I have the S1000 and use it every trip without fail; if it went out today, there would be another installed by next week. Those without do not know what they're missing. I'll be fishing nearly the entire month of June and will put the tolling pattern function to task in a big way.
