From standing behind the engine you ( May ) have a water hose hook up on left side middle lower unit (if not ) use ear muffs on the Bottom intake lower unit Now if you use the ear muffs You have to start the engine after you turn water on ... And regular hose hook up you don’t start

Why don’t you use marine ply wood make template and rap it in fiberglass matting sand smooth and paint with Epoxy paint

They also have a die you dump into and pump it thew trace the lines and look for leak ( OR ) do a pressure leak test with a gauge and air pump and see if it leaks down pressure . Good Luck

Yes tighten it put blue lock tight and make sure the engine is straight and tight And make sure the scab is perfectly straight try it again
