For those running Honda Generators - where do you mount them or keep them

Most small inverter generators have low oil shut down. When mounting on a hardtop you could shut down the genset when the boat rocks due to the oil level sloshing. Also be very aware of CO. Always use a CO detector.

    AIS FROM VHF

If I were to add a Standard Horizon GX2400 Vhf to my nmea 2000 network, would the ais symbols appear on my Simrad GO 9? The catalog brochure only states that the ais symbols appear on the vhf display, however it also states that the vhf supports all ais sentences. Anyone out there using a GX2400?

    repowering

I have a 300 Suzuki AP on my 96 Islander. Weight about 650 wet. Cockpit scuppers out of the water at rest. Make sure you replace your thru hulls and hoses on those 1995 models before you repower. The 300 Suzuki pushes the Islander Nice once you get the prop figured out.

    Higher Fuel Prices

The effect of fossil fuels on climate change is a topic of much debate. I think if you look at the incentives givin to these foreign companies for the installation of these offshore turbines you will find that they will be a burden to the taxpayer. Most concerning is the negative effect of sub...

    268 Islander make over

I too have a 300 Suzuki. I repowered in 2019. The fuel economy is fantastic. I've been playing around with different props and the best performer so far has been the 17P Suzuki prop leaned out to a 15P with a full cup. My boat is always loaded with gear and is very heavy. Hope you get those...

    Molding Replacement Rivets/Retainers

On my 96 Islander the molding has a self adhering tape on the back side. I used a heat gun to remove the stuck on old adhesive. It is best to apply the new molding when it is warm, it shapes very easily when warm. Where the molding is located at the end of the walk around above the fish boxes...

    1996 Helm Chair

Does anyone know who Grady used for their swivel and slide spiders in 1996. The slider on my helm chair wont lock due to the broken nylon bushings in the track. If I can find the manufacturer perhaps I could obtain some new bushings. Thanks in advance.

New 1996 Grady White Islander 268 with twin 200 V6 Mercs

Greauxpete congrats on the Islander. I have a 96 as well although mine has a single 300 Suzuki for power. Still have the original Florida Marine 134 gal tank from 96. I keep it filled and clean but I know I'm on borrowed time. Looks like yours could stand some wet sanding and polishing but from...

    268 repower Suzuki 300

At cruise 45 to 4600 gives me the best economy avg 2 mpg at 24 to 25 mph. I talked to Ken at Prop Gods years ago when I had my Yamaha he suggested a Powertec 4 blade 15 dia X 14 pitch. I never pulled the trigger on that prop.

    268 repower Suzuki 300

Producer I have a 1996 268 Islander with a 2019 Suzuki 300 AP. Proping after the repower took some time and effort. The lowest pitch that Suzuki had was a 17" pitch. My Islander is heavy and I have a lot of gear on board and the original Yammie 250 ran a 15X15. With the Suzuki 16 X17 the boat...

    Repowered Islander 268

Years ago I spoke with PropGods. They recommended a four blade wheel and recommended a 14 Pitch. I am not concerned with top speed as much as I am increasing my range and fuel efficiency. Repowering has given me both of my objectives and the confidence that goes with new power. Invest the time...

    Repowered Islander 268

Patsy Mac, I have a 96 268 Islander with a 2019 Suzuki 300 AP. The new Suzuki props were limited to a minimum pitch of 17". I used to have a single Yammi 250 and ran a 15 x 15 prop. My Islander is heavy with hardtop, enclosure, lots of gear, at 5100 rpm she would run about 31 mph. The new 300...

    272 Sailfish

Original fuel lines? Those are carbed motors correct? Sounds like fuel delivery issue, junk in carbs. Remove silencers look in carbs while running. you'll see the stream of fuel slow in the dirty carb when the motor slows. Do not miss that since I repowered.
