    1999 Seafarer 228 hose & fuel tank inspection/replacing

I had to remove the support that goes across under the two hatches to get my main tank out. Also had to trim the opening a bit on both sides, maybe 1/4 inch both sides. This is a 1997, large rear main tank. no auxilary was installed in my boat. Fill hoses will suck to replace. extra...

Gulfstream - Electronics Upgrade screen options

I have no complaints with my 9.9 high thrust on my 228. Ive seen plenty of sailfish with 9.9 high thrusts.

    330 Express vs 360 express

Seen reports of wet hull cores in the 330s, mostly to do with the side vents near the back of the hull. Seemed to be a thing for the earlier year 330s. The big Grady's have/had balsa cores in the sides. Not sure if they changed the core material for the sides on the newer ones.

It’s official… we’ve got some blood on the deck!

Gold river launch is good, its a little over an hour to the campgrounds, resorts inside nootka sound. Would be 2 hours to to outside in good weather The gravel roads a notoriously bad so most big boats launch in gold river.

It’s official… we’ve got some blood on the deck!

I had a accident with my truck last year so i ran my seafarer from vancouver to nootka, trailered across to campbell and home with a load of fish a week later. Its definately worth a look. Last year in 4 days i pulled 4 chinook, 2 halibut, 3 lingcod, 4 rock fish and the fishing buddy had similar...

It’s official… we’ve got some blood on the deck!

My dad finished at ootka and said tons of coho, couple springs just like you. They did manage to get out for some bottom fish. I missed out this year, its such a nice area to fish. Considering going a week later next year as this the second consecutive year that chinook have been hard to come...

So the 208 and 228 go away for the new 218

Turmoil at Campion currently, sounds like the family sold the business and kept the land/building and now the building is for sale or something like that. Hope they get it sorted, they are good boats and a great family business, locally built boats.

    NEW redesigned 2023 Adventurer!

They should make a bracket version with a 300hp rating. Maybe call it the 228? I always thought my seafarer could use more beam, this thing should be good!

Dodge ecodiesel for towing (and stopping) a 228?

I haul my 228 with a 2013 f150 ecoboost. Its a perfect match. We require electric brakes for anything over 6000 lb is here in BC so my trailer has electric/hydraulic braking and it is awesome. I wouldn't pull my boat with surge brakes. Scaled mine at 6100 on the trailer but low on fuel with no...

    Solar power

I fit a 100 watt panel on my seafarer roof, could easily fit a second. Not sure how much room you have. 10-30 watts would be enough to maintain A battery. 50 watts would start to extend your stereo run time but not cover it completely (100-200 watts for a basic stereo). Solar is great, helps...

Stainless vs bronze vs Marelon, SS screws

Aluminum boats cant use bronze fittings, thats why airmar makes SS transducers.

    What could Grady do better?

They did raise the scuppers, and move the fuel tank forward when the 4 strokes came out. They can only raise them so high before they don't work at all...i use the ping pong balls without issue. Maybe a bigger engine bracket to add some flotation would help support the weight of the kicker that...

Drain plugs in rear deck scuppers?

I dont love the heavy bronze or brass valve hanging inline on that hose. TH marine has these. No experience with them but i had considered them. https://thmarinesupplies.com/products/inline-scupper-check-valves?variant=4676916772902

    1998 272 Sailfish Engine Upgrade

I was just gonna say this, pretty sure MERCs 225s a bit lighter. They also make a V8 250/300 that is interesting for us single engine owners.

Drain plugs in rear deck scuppers?

Ive had good luck with the ping pong ball style. Yes you have to keep them clean, My boat spends most of its life the trailer so that helps.

ideas for more fish storage on 226 Seafarer?

That all fit under the helm seat in the large fish box. Ya, not the biggest halibut but sure they sure are tasty!

ideas for more fish storage on 226 Seafarer?

I was shocked at how many fish fit in the cooler under the helm seanof my 228. I had 4 10-15 lb salmon, 4 small rockfish, 3 lingcod, 2 halibut around 20 lbs. Still had room for more...it was an amazing day on the water to say the least.

    Transom thickness on a Gulfstream

I know in the seafarer grady moved the fuel tank forward once the 4 strokes came around to balance to boat better. Im in the process of installing a new main tank in the front of mine, no auxilary. Not sure what the configuration is on a gulfstream.

    Transom thickness on a Gulfstream

Did grady rig the 200 v6 4 strokes from the factory? Im guessing the older 400 HP rated boats are expecting two strokes. The inline 4 is around 100lbs lighter. Saving 200lbs would make a big difference.
