    E-Box Wind Deflector

I have a 226 with that deflector and it has a crack around the mounting screw. I’ve been thinking of removing it but I have the same questions. There had to be a good reason for Grady to go to the expense of installing them.

    Covers and Antennaes UPDATE

I have a Fisher cover as well. I unbolt the antenna mount (the piece with handle for raising/lowering) and pull a bit of the cable out from the clamshell to allow me to move it to the side under the hardtop lip and tie wrap the antenna diagonally (end down near deck, base up near mount) on the...

    A couple questions about a 228 Seafarer...

FWW, I have a ‘99 226 hardtop and pulpit with a Yamaha 200 4 cylinder 4 stroke. I had originally purchased the engine new in 2013 for a ‘76 22’ Mako CC but ended up getting tired of freezing my *** off in the Atlantic in the fall and went looking for something with more shelter for my aged self...

    Edson Steering Knob

We have the Edson on our 226 and it is very handy. Just pay attention on those occasions when you are standing rather close to the helm. It will remind you if you forget.

    Factory Spec Gas Tank ...

I used SP for a ‘76 Mako tank about 5 years ago. At that time they were located in Barnegat. Great people and product. I plan on replacing my tank on my ‘99 226 over the winter and will use SP again.

    Trolling + CO Poison???

I think you’re right, it’s the exhaust from your engine being blown into the enclosure area, and I would be concerned. I too have a full enclosure on my boat and while I love it for getting out of the weather, we really never run with the two forward curtains down. It was always a visibility...

    NJ fishing reports

Fished from GE inlet to Brigantine inlet along the 3 mile line today. Lots of bait but no fish. Had fog most all day. Had a few boats blasting along through the fog that we tracked on radar and had to maneuver to avoid. Either they had radar and weren’t paying attention or they didn’t have...

    NJ fishing reports

Planning on heading out tomorrow as well. I’m out of the GE Inlet and will head north. Not as far as Barnegat, probably stay off Brigantine. I don’t think they’re that far south yet but I plan on finding out. I’ll keep my boat in the water until well into December if the fish are still around.

    Manasquan Inlet remnants of Zeta

That picture needs to be framed and given to each crew member aboard at the time. Amazing shot.

    NJ fishing reports

Thanks for the info Skunk. This weekend doesn’t look too good with the remnants of the storm but we’ll see (That’s why we own Gradys). Hopefully they’ll stay inside 3 miles this year when they get to my area. Last year the bulk of them were just outside over the line.

Hey Skunk. Very Nice. Waiting for them to get a bit further South. What color and size Deadly Dick were you using?

    Cover vs shrink wrap

My boat has a Fisher canvas cover. Very heavy but nice. Also, they are a great operation to work with, If you’re from the area, you can have repairs or alterations ( I needed an alteration to accommodate a new radar dome) over the summer and they’ll store it for you for a nominal fee. I used to...

    Removable compartment trays/liners

It looks like the Grady part # is 20-027. I believe someone had one listed on Ebay for over $100. I’ll be making a trip to Home Depot and do some trimming instead.

    LED spreader lights recommendations

Got off my wallet and bought the Lumitech Caperera 2 with the blue option. Installed them yesterday, very easy install. They are polarity sensitive, black to black, The red on the light to the blue wire on the original wiring. Very bright, glad they are dimmable. A whole bunch smaller than my...

    Removable compartment trays/liners

I didn’t even know a drop-in box existed for those openings but thinking about it, it would be a great place for storage. Presently I have a small rubbermaid container in the bottom of my port side for cleaning supplies where the oil tank was removed when I installed the 4 stroke. A drop in...

    228 Windlass install completed.

I was considering adding that windlass over the winter simply because the remote drop and retrieve would negate me going forward, especially when single-handing. I can understand cleating off in strong current or heavy seas but if I need to go forward to cleat off every time I drop anchor, it...

    228 Windlass install completed.

Thanks. My ‘99 has the tan plastic hook type (2 per side if the reels aren’t too big and the rods aren’t too long). I’m don’t really want to drill any more holes through the cabin roof if that’s the way the factory mounted them.

    228 Windlass install completed.

Not to hijack the thread because I’m going to need all this info when I install a windlass next year but KY, in the picture of the relay you posted 9/17, I see what appears to be a rod holder in the cabin. Have you installed aftermarket holders in your boat and if so, can you provide a...

    Do I need new hinges?

Here’s my setup. I didn’t flush mount on the overhead box because I wanted some protection from the weather. I have the same problem with the hinges on the overhead box but I strung a bungee across the overhead mesh lifejacket holder and tuck that under the open cover when running in anything...
