Help Needed F150 or F250 for Towing Adventure 208

Your way off on your estimates. Mine with a full tank of fuel was #4950 on the certified scale. Pulled it up and down the east coast with a 2001 Tahoe w/ 5.3 and 3.73 rear. Hardly even knew it was back there. Got 11 to 11.5 MPG when pulling.

Adding a chartplotter to my 226

You have a 1995 so you have the same glove box configuration I have. I flush mounted my previous GPS and the front of the glove box was too vertical and provided a poor viewing angle. I had to squat and lean back to be able to see the screen directly on. When it came time to select a new...

    Scupper hose replacement

Use what you took off of them. Hoses typically have a service lifetime of 5-7 years. Throw in some deck cleaner from time to time and I think the hose held up very well considering you got twice the expected lifetime out of them.

    made a mistake:water in Fuel

I wouldn't worry about it. The E-10 will absorb up to 0.5% water by volume in the tank. If you have 100 gallons in the tank the E-10 would absorb a 1/2 gallon of water with no adverse effects. If it was more than that, which I seriously doubt, the Racors will take care of it.

Independent Lab Testing Fuels / Fuel Additives

Certainly playing off people's fear and ignorance of ethanol fuels to sell their product. Certainly left the waters very muddy particularly when it comes to the types of alcohol used in the various products. Isopropyl alcohol (IPA) has been used for years as “dry-gas”. Don't remember cars...

    Good SS Thru Hull

All of the above mentioned suppliers are nothing more than distributors. I can guarantee you that not one of them has a foundry out back making SS thru hulls. Odds are all 3 of them are buying them from the same manufacturer. Ask for a drawing of the parts. I’ll bet good money that you get...

Advice on pre-purchase used boat motor compression test

Not sure I'd walk away from a boat that was what I wanted becouse of something held on by 4 bolts. If you like the boat, buy it under the premise that you'll have to repower, sooner or later and make an offer accordingly. My “needs repowered” is going on 5 years of service.

The type of lugs you currently have are irrelevant. You replace the entire wheel assembly with a disc brake upgrade

    Transom Rod holder

With a rod holder you have one side of the flange in compression and the other side in tension. Spreading the load will work on the tension side but is not as effective on the compression side. Increasing the thickness will help with the compression. A ¼” aluminum would strengthen the area...

    86 overnighter through the hulls

It's been a while but I don't remember them being such a big chore. Remove the access covers and the thru hull fitting should be starting at you. You have to work on the drain blind but it’s not an overwhelming chore.
