    rear scuppers

I checked all eight of the Gemlux fittings I installed on my boat with a handle held XRF unit that we manufacuture. All of them meet ANSI and SAE specification for 316 stainless steel. http://www.niton.com/Documents/alloy/8-303_0408_Fab_App_bull_low.pdf Passivation (acid bath) is used to...

    rear scuppers

There is no such thing as a “quality” stainless. Either the material meets specification (chemical analyst) or it doe not. Stainless relies on the formation of chromium oxide on its surface to protect it from “rusting”. If you prevent oxygen from coming into contact with the surface the oxide...

    wish list

It's a toss up between a good fish finder or a hardtop. A hardtop is the basis for future expansion but you need a good fish finder if you’re a fisherman as well

cold weather use of raw water washdown

I fish year round if the weather allows so I've never winterized the raw water systems. I just drain them at the end of the day. To drain the system I hold the end of the washdown hose below the level of the seacock and lock the nozzle open. Then open the seacock and the siphon effect drains...

    Trailering with canvas in place

My last boat had a soft top and I put it down when trailering. My current boat has a hardtop and I don’t bother removing the canvas. Depending on where I'm fishing that particular day it’s a 130-200 miles round trip. I just leave the front and rear canvas open and rolled up and have never...

Yamalube vs. Other 2-cycle oil in Yamaha 225

The Opti oil is DFI oil. DFI oils are superior to any of the dino or dino/synthetics on the market in both cleanliness and their additive packages. I tired it and liked it a lot but the price is a bit stiff for what it buys you. I buy bulk Merc premium plus and Rude HD 50 which are doused...

    Questions evenrudes 200s

Find a new shop. There are no computors to download anything on those motors. FWIW: The check engine light is a fuel restriction so you're running lean. Next sound you hear may be a boom if you don't resolve the issue.

    Green Fuel Color

It's possible that the anti-siphon valve is stuck open or has been removed. The pressure in the oil tank will feedback into the fuel lines if that check valve at the oil pump is stuck open. I've seen it happen before.

    Green Fuel Color

I see this is on an old Merc. Assuming you don't premix, I would look at the check valve at the oil pump and the one going out to the remote oil tank.

Trim tab size for an overnighter???

I had the same boat you have. I had the standard 12" x 12" tabs on it and they performed well.

Fuel Guage / Sender Problem and Resolution

I went through the same thing. Talked with Isspro and got a crazy price and decided to look elswhere. Next time try Wema. Same length, in stock and priced right. Just installed new wire lugs at the tank and was back in action in less than a 1/2 hour...

Stainless end caps for rub rail?

Does anyone know where I can get stainless end caps for the rub rail? My Overnighter had SS end caps and the Seafarer came with plastic ones. The ones on the Seafarer are getting a bit washed out and I'd like to replace them with SS if possible.

89 overniter fuel tank vent replacement & tank sending u

I had an 86 and the vent line was nothing more than a piece of fuel hose with a section of spring over the hose where it looped up by the vent. I used normal fuel hose and reused the spring. Here is your sending unit http://www.wemausa.com/tank_sensors/details_SSS_SSL_tank_sensors.htm

    UPGRADING MY GPS-FISHFINDER-SOUNDER

Garmin uses the same transducer and remote GPS module connector on all their units. The odds are you could reuse your existing transducer and remote GPS module if you have one. Now the power cable / interface is a different story.
