    SUZUKI or YAMAHA

Got to admit the Yamaha's are great engines. I had a 86' 90hp 2-stroke on my BW Montauk. Never had a rebuild or major work and the thing is still running strong as hell today. I like the way the ETEC's are running. Would probably go with an ETEC if I was repowering.

    Trolling motor

Vtdochop, I would suggest getting a dual binnacle and hooking the kicker up to it. Panther marine makes a stainless steel steering link bar that will hook up to main engine. I did it on my 17' Montauk and it worked great. I controlled the kicker without ever leaving the helm. Here are some pics:

Hi all, new Grady owner here

I've found in the past, a kicker offers a piece of mind. I don't need one but better to have and not need than need and not have.

    Mounting position for outboard engine

I was reading the performance bulletins for Yamaha outboards. They tested a single 225 4-stroke on the back of a 258 Voyager. http://www.yamaha-motor.com/assets/prod ... -GRW-B.pdf I figured this would be close to the 200 I have on the back of my 208 Adventure. I noticed in the test they...

    Need help with prop selection.

Yeah, I was hoping to eliminate all other variables before I brought it into the shop. The yamaha dealer near me does not leave me feeling confident so I found another in CT. Not sure if this place is any better. Their website states the mechanic is a master tech, we'll see  .

    Need help with prop selection.

Hi Brian, I just bought the boat and did not have the opportunity to seatrial. The setup looks to be a factory install. The cavitation plate is level with the keel. I had planned on checking to see if the throttle is fully open. The boat has 140 hrs on it. The other thing that comes to mind is...

    Need help with prop selection.

I have a 2002 208 Adventure with a 200 Yamaha 4S. The boat is turning 4800 rpm @ full throttle and 38 mph. The engine should be 5000-6000 rpm. I am turning a 19 pitch SS prop. Was thinking about dropping to a 17 SS prop. The engine seems to be running fine but I am wondering if there might be...

Is a single 250 HP enough???

If I am guessing correctly, you have an pair of old Suzuki's? The best and cheapest way to go is with a new pair of Suzuki's. It's not just the cost of the engine(s) but the cost of rigging. Old holes need to be filled and new ones drilled. Just the thought of putting holes in my boat makes my...

    Is 250 HP enough?

If money is not a problem then go with the biggest engine your boat can handle. Running the bigger motor puts a lot less stress on the motor which will allow better fuel economy. If you ever decide to sell, a lot of people shy away from under powered boats. I looked for a few months and drove...

    Looking for some Propellor Help

I think the engines are too low. They are mounted on a bracket and the water from under the hull rises sharply by that point. When it is bolted directly to the transom, the hull displaces the water so the engine needs to be lower so the prop stays in contact with the water. With the bracket, the...

    Which Merc Mirage Prop ?

Mercury has been the industry leader when it comes to props. All you need to do is change the hub to match your engine. I've used Merc props before and found them to be superior to any other that I've used. A smaller pitch will allow you to plane quicker but you have to remember that it will...

The new 2004 Grady 208 Adventure

I saw this boat for sale on Boats.com and when I called they said it was just sold to a guy on the west coast, I guess this is the boat? Good deal, 36 hrs can't be beat.

The previous owner angled the boat slightly so it would drain I guess. The picture is from the previous owner

Dumb question-getting on plane in shallow water

Slow and steady wins the race. Nothing like hitting bottom to make your wallet scream.

I put in on the Hudson river. With a bigger boat now, I'll be able to get back on the LI Sound and Atlantic.

Hi all, new Grady owner here

I just sold my 1985 17' Montauk and bought a 2002 208 Adventure. Has anyone hooked up a kicker to this hull? I assume on the starboard side due to the ladder on port. Any pics form those that have? I would like to get some ideas about a kicker. Thanks, Kevin

    New Owner

Hello all! I have been a Whaler owner for some time and have just purchased my first Grady, a 2002 208 Adventure with a 200 Yamaha 4-stroke. I hope to have a great experience here as I did over at Whaler Central. :D Kevin
