    1999 232 gulfstreaam

Can't help directly - mine is a 2003. But transom is solid, no water in it. I would absolutely replace all hoses going to thru-hulls. Mine were leaking between the cockpit and the thru-hulls in the transom. My (2X) 2003 F200's are only exhibiting mild exhaust corrosion, but I know my...

    Wiper Help

I bought these for my 2003 Gulfstream, from Summit Racing. This was based upon the thread that Dennis mentions above. Very utilitarian, exact replica for what i had. ANC-52-18 Wiper Blade, 52-Series, Clear-Flex, 18 in., Medium/Heavy Trucks, Each (Mfr. #: 5218) Ready to Ship Ground...

    Insurance Recommendation Needed

Geico renewed mine, which is much older (2003) than the OP, so I'm surprised his was cancelled. Premium went from $467 to $485. Not enough to worry about. Policy is set at "actual cash value".

    Cabin cushion recover

Here's how mine turned out for my 232. Original was one of the beigish patterns typical of boats and RV's.

    Solar batteries

So I think you're referring to solar charging panels, not batteries - correct? (AFAIK there is no such thing as a "solar battery"). And you're looking to add a solar panel to your boat to trickle-charge your batteries? I have some solar industry experience, but not specifically for...

    Keeping cubby door open?

Wish I had taken a pic today, but they’re like any other strap used to hold up a rolled up isinglass panel. You’ve all seen them. These are just attached to the inside of the console door, and the twisty is attached to the ceiling of the hardtop to the side of the door, so the strap reaches it...

    Keeping cubby door open?

Isinglass straps, the same as others. Works fine.

    Life Vest sale?

    Deck Drain/Hose Replacement - 225 Tournament

Zumytunes, I replaced with the identical white plastic parts available from TH Marine. Mine were original and 19 years old. They were fine, but the hoses were cracked. However, I agree with Fishtale and others that replacing the deck drains with the sturdier part in the above post is...

    Net for overhead console

I don't know about you guys, but I keep having things fall out of my overhead console when I'm cruising. In my case, a gulfstream - but I don't think the model matters too much. I need a cargo net that I can stretch across both sides of the console (about 4' width and 6" high), that I can...

    New boat tool set

I keep my specialized kits in Plano trays - one for electrical, one for rivets, and one for stainless hardware. I keep a wire stripper/crimper , conductive grease, tape and silicone sealer in the electrical tray along with plenty of terminations and fuses. A battery-powered drill/driver is...

New member & new (to me) 232 Gulfstream (Repower Questions)

Welcome! Beautiful boat - I love my GF. Mine has twins, so I can’t help you much on the 300 vs 250 question. I would add, however, that I can’t imagine running it with less than 300hp.

    Deck Drain/Hose Replacement - 225 Tournament

Just had this done on my 2003 Gulfstream. All equipment was original. Bought replacement plastic drains with right angle nipples that fit the 2 1/2” holes. Since these have threaded nuts from below, we had to attach the new hoses from below after the deck drains were replaced. New 1 1/2”...

    Cabin cushion recover

Having my 2003 Gulfstream interior cushions done now. Using a light blue Sunbrella in/out fabric, but not marine grade since these are interior. Original quote was $1700 for labor and material. I found the material online for $25/yd, so paying $275 for material, and $775 for labor.

    Transom thickness on a Gulfstream

Well, this just gets more and more interesting. Attached is the 2003 photo that Grady sent me, demonstrating that the thru-hulls are out of the water. Those are Yamaha V150's on there, but I don't know if they were 2 stroke or 4-stroke. The 2-stroke specs in 2003 are 426 lb ea. That's a...

    Transom thickness on a Gulfstream

Mine are V6’s, and based on all paperwork appear to be original on the boat. I believe the weight spec is about 580lb ea. The newer 4-strokes are 490. Maybe that’s the difference? Still, Grady sold it with the 2003 motors attached.

    Transom thickness on a Gulfstream

An update on this topic: After hauling the boat out, I checked the bracket for water. There was about 1/2" in the bracket, and no signs of major leakage, so I don't think there was much more than that while the boat was in the water. I then had a thru-hull removed from the deck drains, and...

Used Grady White Shopping- 24 ' range Recommendations and Insight

I have a 2003 Gulfstream with original twin F200's, that I purchased last year. Love the boat, and am glad to have twins for maneuverability in the harbor. There have been reports of that generation of Yamaha 4'strokes having corrosion issues. Mine still have the original lower unit, but...

    How does beam affect ride?

Larry, I meant to "weigh" in on this earlier. I agree with a lot that has been said, but will give you a different perspective: My previous was a 35' Cabo, with 27,000 lb displacement (full), and 13' beam. So I had plenty of beam and plenty of weight. My experience was that the boat was so...
