    Transom thickness on a Gulfstream

Thanks for all of the advice so far. Jonathan, my hull thickness is 2 1/2", so I could not use the thru-hulls that you have - but thanks anyway. I do understand that the Marelon is a glass-reinfoced product and very sturdy. I just think that if it's going to stay below the waterline, I want...

    Transom thickness on a Gulfstream

You guys are correct - my typo. They are in fact F200's, and 400hp is the max spec. Grady's response is that the boat was designed with the thru-hulls above the waterline, and sent me a brochure from 2003 showing a picture of it OTW as such. I k now the motor bracket is always suspect, but...

    Transom thickness on a Gulfstream

I'm referring to the thru-hulls that go through the transom wall and connect to the deck drains. I put the same query to GW and just got their reply: The transom is 2 1/4" thick. The original part (GW part #11-464) is now obsolete, and they're recommending this replacement from Premier...

    Transom thickness on a Gulfstream

Looking to replace the scupper thru-hulls on my 2003 Gulfstream. Does anyone happen to know the transom thickness on that boat? Also, I can find the Perko catalog part I want, but haven't found any availability online. Any advice on that front? Thanks in advance.

Price check ... slip and storage fees

Very interesting to see the difference costs and services around the country. Paying $381/mo for a 25' slip in Santa Cruz, CA. I don't use power, so I don't think that's included. Does include water, restrooms, showers, parking. And of course, we're year-round out here. I had a Cabo in...

Any Ideas What These Wires Are For.

Spreader lights? Mine are wired up through the hardtop.

    Helm seats 02 Gulfstream

When I researched having the armrests redone, I could not find a source for my 03 Gulfstream. So, I did the "women's size 9 sock" covering route - which works ok. So if someone says they can redo the seats - make sure they have a solution for the armrests as well (which are molded foam -...

Gulfstream 232 - Transom Fish Box Dimensions? + WTB

My 2003 Gulfstream rides very well in a 2-3' headsea. I use the tabs to level the boat side-to-side, and use motor trim at about 2 bars (25%?) to keep the bow slightly up. I can run about 16 knots in that configuration. Over 3', I'm dropping it down to 10 knots. Our water (Monterey Bay) is...

    How slow will it go?

Surprisingly, my 2003 Gulfstream with twin F200's will troll at 2.0 knots. When we fish halibut, I just use one motor, and get it down to about 1.2 knots. The autopilot doesn't like it much, but I use the motor that's opposite the wind, which I believe makes it a bit easier. I burn more fuel...

No longer on the outside looking in! New (used 232)

Congratulations! I love my 2003 Gulfstream. Don't know your motor situation - I've got twin F200's (original), and get about 1.5 mpg on plane. Amazingly, I can troll with the mains at 2 knots.

First question from new Grady owner

I leave mine open with velcro strap when underway. Since it's not water tight, I don't see any advantage in keeping it closed. We're not in an out of there a lot, but enough that I wouldn't want the nuisance of having to open it each time.

    Yamaha 200 starting problems

Try swapping out the cable between the switch and the battery. That's the only piece of this that hasn't been changed yet.

Charging house battery from Yamaha 150 when running

On my boat, the aux cables from both Yamaha F200's are feeding the house battery (via fuse blocks, etc). I figured that way I could get 90 amps to the house and keep up with a full electronics load. Anything wrong with using both that way?

    Heading home with my Gulfstream

Yep. Same situation on my 232 with 200's.

Hatch cover needed for transom 2003 Gulfstream. Recommendations please. Thanks!

Same year, same model. I can take pics of mine if that's helpful, but I would be amazed if you could get a replacement for it, unless it's all custom ($$$). I would just get a heavy piece of star board cut to fit, with a finger hole to lift it up. The benefit (and I've seen this on other...

    Battery switch and charging

I have the same model/year, but with a third battery - so in my case: a start battery for each motor, and one for the house. Whether or not you're charging both depends on your motor and wiring. The Yamaha's have an auxiliary charge cable that should be connected to the "other" battery. If...

    Auto pilot and connected main/kicker?

My old boat had AP, and I lived by it - mostly for longer runs down to Ensenada from San Diego, and back from tuna fishing. My Gulfstream's AP was broken when I purchased the boat, and I absolutely will get it replaced. Unless I'm extremely vigilant at the helm, the boat will wander off...

    Starboard engine failure

I'm curious about the "turn". If at speed, maybe the tilt of the boat affected the fuel pick up from the tank? I know it was only one motor, but it seems like a clue.

    Repower

35mph on OUR ocean? I wish Larry! Maybe I'll see that at some point. So far, I'm seeing 1.5 - 1.6 under generally good conditions at 19-21 knots. I haven't been on the water yet where I could open it up. Looking forward to that.
