    Repower

I have the same boat, 2003 model. This boat came with twin F200's. I will say it is aft-heavy, but for my use (Monterey Bay), the F200's perform very well. The downside is fuel economy - you might do a lot better with a single engine, and that may be all you need for lake/river environments.

Taking it all in. I think everyone's experience is valid, but is likely situationally dependent (boat, load, sea state). Will continue to work with tabs a little and mostly motor trim to fine tune. Will report back any improvements I find to this forum. Thanks again to all for the...

Great advice! So, I ran this weekend with no trim tabs, and just used the motors to trim the boat. Huuuuge difference. I was able to plane at 19 knots in some slop at 3600rpm and hold it, with the motors on the second lowest trim setting. Trimming up further (bow up) knocked me off plane...

    Battery replacement

Was noticing that I needed both Start batteries to run the tilt/trim motor on my starboard engine (Yamaha F200), so just replaced the previous batteries in my Gulfstream with 3 Duracell Group 27 DP AGM's. PEACE OF MIND. Wired as Skunk said with the Aux charging line going to the house...

As PointedRose said, "...a wealth of knowledge...". Thank you again gentlemen, for all of the deeply earned insight and knowledge. My initial statements were meant to reflect fuel economy - I figured that If I could stay on plane at 20knots that would be with lower rpms and higher mpg...

Thanks all for the very thoughtful feedback. Much appreciated, and I'll try some of this out. For clarification, I meant "it breaks free" in the sense that it leaps forward once on plane, and gets to 25+ knots and 4200 rpm very quickly. That's when I had the throttles up at 3800 trying to...

    Happy new owner

New to me, 2003 GW Gulfstream 232. Previous owner is a good guy, had it for 10 years, but got tired and didn't use it much the last few. With 1050 hrs on the Yamaha F200's, I had them serviced, and found that there was little corrosion in the exhaust systems (the big worry), but the port...

2000 265 Express with water leaking in on inside of cabin walls

I have stains below the corners of my windows, so since yours are not near the windows, I would think NOT the windows.

    Throwable PFD

Has anybody tried one of these throwable/inflatables yet? That looks pretty interesting to me. https://www.defender.com/product.jsp?path=-1|135|2290109|2290114&id=3320050#

    330 Express scuppers

On a different thread here, I've mentioned that my surveyor suggested that I should put ball valves on those deck drain lines because of the possibility of flooding the boat if one of those lines breaks. Has anybody done that? I certainly agree that replacing the aging/brittle deck drains is...

    Heading home with my Gulfstream

Congrats! What year? I'm just completing the purchase of my own Gulfstream in Monterey, CA. Mine's 2003, so it needs some work, but overall is in pretty good shape. I have three weeks to get it seaworthy, learn its systems, and provision it before salmon season starts. FYI, the...

    Scupper and Scupper Hose Replacement

Buying a 2003 Gulfstream 232, and the surveyor recommended putting ball valves on the drain lines, in case they broke away from the drains - could flood the lazarette, etc. Has anybody taken this measure on their drain lines? I haven't seen that before.
