    1990 Grady 228g feels slow

seems you already have the likely culprit. Others have filled the bracket with tennis balls or other similar floatation. Get that bracket drained, reseal it with some 3m 4200 and report back

    243 Chase

Looks like an awesome boat. Check the transom for any signs of wear, delamination, cracking around the motor mounting bolts. Congrats on the new ride

Best offshore model for NE 26'-30'

Canyon 271 or 306 would be pretty sweet on the Cape if you’re considering a CC

    New boat tool set

oh sorry, I linked a chrome plated set, but either way, quite honestly dude, your posts are a bit obnoxious sometimes…I don’t think you really mean to be that way, just reread your posts to yourself before you submit. Btw I’ve had that set on my boat for 3 years with no rust.

    New boat tool set

Agree with hookup. Definitely stainless. You want some basics if you need it. this kit has the sockets and screwdrivers and is pretty small. DEWALT Mechanics Tool Set, 84-Piece (DWMT81531) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0767QTGFX/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_i_Q2Q1AW4W85G23Q2ZT251?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1...

How to Access Batteries on 2008 282 Sailfish?

Put some dielectric grease on the battery connectors before reinstalling

    1990 Grady 228g feels slow

    1) do you keep in the water and is there bottom growth? 2) I’d pull the spark plugs and replace and check compression of the cylinders

How to Access Batteries on 2008 282 Sailfish?

If you have multiple wires going to your batteries, bring some wire ties to keep it organized for the reinstall (red and black wire ties)

Used Grady White Shopping- 24 ' range Recommendations and Insight

For a kicker on a 22-24’ I would go 8-10hp. 8hp high thrust, long shaft (20 or 25”) ideally. Even 6hp would be fine for most purposes and would be lower weight hanging off the back of the boat. My 6hp on my sailboat is 60 lbs. my 9.9hp kicker is closer to 100lbs. If you get a boat with dual...

    1982 204 Overnighter

You can tilt the engines up and lean on them to see if there is any flex to the transom. Also look inside at the mounting bolts for any signs of cracking, wear or delamination to the fiberglass. Enjoy the few more trips!

Should I drop insurance in the winter?

I agree with others… a nasty winter storm could drop a tree in the yard (or any number of things) and you would want coverage in off-season

    Towing Grady with Jeep

I don’t think topsultime was suggesting this. He said that max ratings are a little conservative, which I agree with, the OPs Jeep would no doubt move the boat fine being right around or just under the max on flat ground. I also agree with you Mustang that pushing the limit for a couple hundred...

    Towing Grady with Jeep

Make sure you have good brakes on your Jeep as well. You could rent a truck for the long haul days if you are uncomfortable. Keep it slow on the highway and provide plenty of room for braking especially on downhills. If you have 4x4 low gear that might help. No doubt it’ll move the boat, but 120...

    209 fisherman

Seems a bit spendy to me honestly, since there is no useable engine and work to be done on the hull for the rot. Is there a trailer? You could find another brand boat for probably the same price or less with a running engine and a trailer similar year hull.

    new to boating-

I think typical setup for a 235 is a single 300hp. Twins wouldn’t be necessary unless you were planning to go offshore. As a novice there is definitely some maintenance you can do yourself, but you may want to have a professional involved for more complex maintenance items, even for winterizing...

    Fuel Leak

I agree, could be a line issue or a loose fitting. Typically an alum tank would have 20 years, but could be sooner in a more humid climate for example.
