    Jabsco Manual Head quit

Head quit pumping water into the bowel. Pumps out OK. Yes, the through hull is open. Worked fine when I put the boat away last fall. It is only 2 years old so I'd kind of doubt the rubber diaphram is shot. Any ideas?

    water skiing - islander

You won't be as nimble as a MasterCraft but sure go ahead and give it a try. With 300hp you will not have any trouble getting him out of the water. Wake might be a little problem until he gets a little experience then he is gonna love jumping it, especially on a salamom

    windlas problem

Windlass line can be kind of touchy so I'd look at the owners manual to see what they recommend, might be able to find it on line. After reading the manual you will see how much drop they recommend, type and size of line, etc etc. If you still have a problem give us ALL the details and maybe...

Yamaha Maintenance (oil change / gear oil change)

Capt Chris Next time you should change the oil, filter and lower unit lub. Look what it costs for parts and your time to clean up the mess changing the filters creates. I've done it and it is not a fun afternoon. We want quality marinas that "take care of us first cause we bought something"...

    Which Rod Holder??

Looking for adjustable Rod Holders to use with Dipsy Diver Rods on my Islander. I have looked at the ones made by Big Jon and Vector. Anybody have any first hand experience with reliability? Any other suggestions I should be considering?

    Need some windlass advice

Your question is far from stupid especially when you learn how to do it correctly then watch others. Kind of like going to the boat launch ramp and watching a daytime version of SNL. Making certain that you have enough rode, line and the proper anchor for boat and location is an important...

    Leaking wash down pump

I had a problem with mine leaking when in use and realized that the 1st winter i laid up my Islander I may not have made certain that the pumps were winterized correctly. Water in the pressure switch freezes and pops a seal. Almost impossible to fix. I had to get a new pump. My dealer took...

My Mistake- - Need to Replace

When I trailered my Islander this weekend I put the cover to my Garmin 3210 in the overhead electronics box, thinking I did not want it to blow off. I guess the door was not latched properly because when I arrived I noticed it was open and the cover was long gone. Any suggestions where I can...

    Need a price estimate....

The most important party to a sale is the willing buyer. You have an item with limited marketability so unless you want to store it for a long time I'd suggest talking to the interested party and make the deal.

    Cleaning Fenders

I had a similar problem so I put them in a large garbage can with 3 or 4 cups of Clorox Bleach and filled it full of water. You will have to figure out how to put considerable weight on top of the fenders to keep them from floating. I left mine overnight and it did wonders.

    Installing a windlass

I just finished installing a Lewmar Pro Fish 700 on my Islander. Works great. I love the free drop feature and be careful the first time you retrieve the anchor, it comes up faster than you would expect. Buy a high quality 3" hole saw and take your time. Your rope locker space is very...

    DSC integration with GPS

This is not a plug and play operation. I hired an installer and got taken for $75. I wanted to conect the Lowrance fish finder to the Garmin GPS and the GPS to the DSC on the VHF. He couldn't figure out either one. Never have been able to get the Lowrance to talk to the GPS but a fella on my...

    Electronics-flush mount or not?

Here is a link to mine. I had the GPS inside the glove box but really didn't like it. Hard to see and even harder to operate. http://picasaweb.google.com/dduflo/GPSF ... qa3d2utTDY

    Ladder upgrade

We do a fair amount of scuba diving out of our Islander 270. There is a ladder on the starboard side that is OK for occasional use but isn't really designed for 250 lb men, especially with scuba gear on. I'd like to add another larger ladder on the port side that is easly removable so it could...

What size anchor for 265 Express

Danforth has different styles. Their High Tensile anchors are much much better. Thinner so that the way they dig into the bottom is the key. Don't believe the lookalikes. I have tried them and they are woth the extra $$$

    Anchor Windlass battery connection

I used the single port side battery. GPS, radios, depth finders, Fridge, etc etc are all on the 2 starboard batterys. I use only use one engine to troll with and with only 2 down riggers I deided to spread the load. They don't really use all that much current and we are not running them up...

    Anchor Windlass battery connection

Windlass is in. I used a test light to find correct stud on the battery switch. It is a Lemar Pro Fish 700 and came with a 40 Amp Breaker that I located about 1' from the battery switch. Thanks for the advice.

    Anchor Windlass battery connection

Adding an anchor windlass to my Islander 270. I have 3 batterys and 2 battery switches. I can easly connect to the dual starboard batterys but would like to wire the positive lead into the battery switch so that when I leave the boat and shut the switches off everything but the fridge and...
