I had a short shaft kicker on the back of my 248 Offshore Pro and unless you mount the bracket very low the prop of the kicker will not be low enough to adequately push the boat. IMO I would go with a long shaft kicker.

I've had a kicker on each of previous Gradys. If you leaning towards a 4 stroke consider either the Yamaha T8hp or T9.9hp. This engines have a hight thrust and nearly flat prop, it will definately get the job done on a 20' boat. As far as mounting brackets are concerned OMC makes a heavy duty...
