    Purchasing a Used Grady

Welcome to the site. I'm the proud owner of a 93' 232GT Gulfstream. I purchased the boat from the second owner who provided details about the first owner. My boat lived all but the last 7 years on a lake in the middle portion of the state and belonged to an older couple who cruised the lake and...

    New Yamaha 4 strokes

With all the banter back and forth about 2s & 4s, no one has mentioned the Ox66 series of motors. I had a 2001 250 on a 22' Pxxxxxt cuddy. Loved the boat and the motor was awesome. Great power, reliability and fuel economy. Just thought I'd throw that in there.

Tragic story here on the website

timberxx, not being a smart alec, and to provide an answer to your question, it's called paying attention to tide and water conditions so one does not have to call for a tow/push. In my line of work it's called situational awareness. Yes, this is truly a sad story and I feel pain for the family...

    SV-2 vs. non-SV-2

Very well put doc Stressor. I think you hit it right on the head. My boat does need a fair amount of forward speed to stay on plane. Of course this can be countered with trim tabs but then the mpg goes to sh#t.

    trolling with yamie 150hp

Very interesting issue about the engine oil diluting while extensive trolling. I have 2 stroke engines and after getting to the fishing grounds, I'll troll on 1 and swap to the other every hour or so. This of course cuts down on total running hours and DING DING DING "FISHING SECRET", nearly...

Fuel & Vent Hoses 93' Gulfstream

Thanks so much for the rapid replies and detailed explanation. I'll check out the vents and if thats not it, I'll pull the covering boards/access panels and have a look at the hoses. I've done this job a couple of times on other boats and it is a PITA. Thanks again and good fishing.

Fuel & Vent Hoses 93' Gulfstream

For about an hour after adding any amount of fuel, I get gas fumes in the cabin as well as around the helm station. The odor goes away and does not return until adding more fuel. I'm thinking fill or vent hose showing their age and weeping. Has anyone changed these out and are they a pain in the...

    82' 223 gas tank

I have cleaned out fuel tanks by using an electric fuel pump. After opening the top of the tank, raise the boat high in the front to allow any sludge/junk/water to go to the rear of the tank. Using a long suction hose on the pump, work it in and around the lowest portion of the tank(s). Keep...

    SV-2 vs. non-SV-2

Having fished a 1980 24 Offshore and now a 1993 23 Gulfstream the difference in the hull design and ride quality is, well AMAZING. No slam on the older hull design. The 24 I fished on has done an excellent job for 30 years (now retired) and has seen it's share of some really crappy water. As...

Intro and Question: What to look for in a used Seafarer

Welcome. I can't offer any advice on the 226 or 228, however I would also consider a 232 GT Gulfstream. I've had mine now for a couple of years and absolutly LOVE IT. It is the biggest 23' around and with the curtain enclosure around the helm it would make for a warm and dry ride back to the...

    282 Sailfish fuel economy

I ran a single 250 Ox66 on a previous boat and it really liked 3800-4000 rpms at cruise. Running lower rpms the motor seemed to be lugging. A flow scan may also be helpful.
