    Sailfish Enclosure

Fishtales, Thanks for the referral to A&J Canvas. They still had the pattern and will do the original enclosure with strataglass for $2350, shipping included. They also said they'd turn it around in less than two weeks. you saved me $650 and several weeks of wait time. Thanks for you help !

    Sailfish Enclosure

Roger that on the pictures. I called A&J Canvas in NC as you recommended. It'll take them a day or two to see if they still have the pattern for our boat then call back with the price. It'll boil down to A&J as a stock replacement of the original isinglass and canvas or the local option of...

What type of livewell pump do I need?

We ran a new hose from the seacock to the pump then adapted from the pump to the existing hose that ran to the livewell. The existing hose looked fine and I can't imagine the job of trying to get a new hose to the livewell. We mounted the pump on the bulkhead forward of the seacock. It's worked...

    Sailfish Enclosure

We're in southern california. it seems the big advantage of polycarbonate is the clarity. Some say almost as good as glass. Only been caught in bad fog a few times but thats when i drive via radar/gps and post a lookout on the bow. I brought up your point about the angle causing a crazing...

What type of livewell pump do I need?

I think the original pump screwed directly on top of the seacock. Thats how ours was anyhow. We mounted a Jabsco Cyclone on the bulkhead. Its quiet, smooth, and is off the seacock. No issues in 2+ years. Great pump.

    Time to upgrade

I support your 282 option. We have an 05 Sailfish 282 with/Yamaha 250s (with 850 hours). The engines run smooth, fast and dependable. We use it primiarly for coastal fishing and weekend runs to Catalina Island (26 miles each way) off the SoCal coast. My wife says the cabin gets pretty small...

    Sailfish Enclosure

I'll do that first thing. The quote I recieved for the front - Makrolon 60 and sides - Strataglass 40 (including new canvass and front windshield cover) was $3,000.

    Sailfish Enclosure

We have an 05 Sailfish 282 and are going to replace the enclosure. We're considering a polycarbonate front windshield with strataglass on the sides (with smilies). Is there an advantage (or disadvantage) of having a single piece polycarbonate windshield across the front versus splitting it like...

    Is My Windlass Motor Toast?

Thanks Fishtales. I'll be sure to follow that advice and am enroute to the slip this morning to get to work.

    Is My Windlass Motor Toast?

OK Thanks, I'll take a look at the connections at the harness. That would be easier and cheaper than a new motor. Appreciate your help! Thank You !

    Is My Windlass Motor Toast?

I have 12v leaving the switch but didn't check it at the windlass. It's tough because you have to reach up and under through the anchor locker. Would wiring cause the steady decrease in power over the span of 30 seconds? I always thought that wiring problems would be all on or all off? I like...

    Is My Windlass Motor Toast?

I ran out my anchor line on dock to mark it and give it a fresh water rinse. While pulling it back, my Lewmar windlass (2005 version of V-700) began to run slower and slower. I paused it a few times but it would resume at the same speed it was paused (It didn't increase in speed at all after...

Teak & Holly cabin sole fabrication

I noticed the latch on the main floor. Is that to lift the teak/holly ? (I assume you didn't glue it down?) Did you use any padding ? How much of a gap did you leave around the edges? I need to do the same project for our '05 Sailfish. Thank You.....

    cabin room 28 foot sailfish

We have an 05 Sailfish 282. I'm 6'1" and wife is 5'8". We use it for local fishing and overnighters at Catalina Island off the coast of Southern California. For fishing it coudn't be much better. Fishing with 4 on board and using the bait tank is fine. It can get small on the overnighters...

    Wake Spray

Got A Grip: Good point re: the livewell seackcock. The livewell is on the port side. But all our seacoks are always closed unless we're going to use that specific function. it was closed on this run. Dennis: Duly noted on the picture drag. I'll try it next opportunity. Thanks for the...

    Wake Spray

Thank You for the comments and I'm sorry about the oversized picture. Don't know how to proportion it down. Its an 05 sailfish. Our batteries are centered. The galley is on the port but id think that would be factored during manufacture. I usually seem to need a pinch of trim tab to bring the...

    Wake Spray

Any ideas why would the spray on the port side is higher and farther than starboard? Trim tabs retracted, boat level, smooth water, engines synched, engines aligned on recent service, two people on board and equally balanced off centerline. Difference is constant at speed. Is this an issue or...

    Coast Guard Documentation Regs

Even with the outboards, I'd bet name/port on the transom is fine. A person would really have to ask for it for that to become an issue......
