    Evinrude E-Tec any opions ?

Sold! My two cents aren’t worth as much as many other members’ 2 cents here, but my trusted mechanic loves them and has a 60 hp on a classic 15ft super-sport Whaler. I’ve been on speed-runs with him and it just hauls arse. It sounds awesome too, screaming along – if that matters! He’s...

Sew zipper smiles in eisenglass front panels?

Chris, sorry for the late reply! Of course - this weekend would be fine to come check out Vedette’s front wind-shields. or anytime. Talk to you soon. And, thanks again for all of your help with Vedette over the years, mate! I have learned so much due to your help. Our slip is yours when at...

    What is this worth 1997 G.White 208 Adventure w/ Yamaha 150

I think you’d be safe to assume the brand new boat - with all the necessities, electronics and not - would be triple the cost of the ‘97, but quadruple the worth. Say, like 20K vs. 60K?

Grady White 208 Adventure mooring cover suggestions

My 2 bits are to find a local marine canvas maker and have them come out and measure up exactly it is you want. “Sunbrella” seems to be the leading canvas brand, but I’m sure there are others just as worthy. The boat may already have snaps or lift –the-dot fasteners already in place for a...

    Finally I'm a Grady owner!

WOW Again! Nice boat! I bet she really moves with that 175. My wife and I had a similar long search, and just love our 208. “The best way to maintain a boat is to use it.” (And to cover it when not in use!) Cheers!

Adding Sting Ray fins to 200 hp HPDI Grady 272

I believe this is what you want I put the newer XRIII Sting Ray on my HPDI and it has made all the difference in the world. We don’t have trim tabs and now I’m very reluctant to add them as she plains immediately and at lower rpms. You won’t believe it, but as advertised, we did gain a little...

Things you wished you knew your first year owning a 360?

Well ok. The 1999 OMC Ficht 175 doubles as a good spare anchor.

Is SeaTow Membership Worth the Price?

The thing I like about our Vessel Assist membership is that it isn’t tied to our boat, but to us. As I understand it, if we happen to be on someone else’s boat and something goes awry, I also have the option of calling Vessel Assist for the boat that I’m on. It just serves as the ultimate...

    Missing Boaters - NFL Players

The July issue of the BoatU.S. magazine has a short piece about this written by Bernadette Bernon. Here is an excerpt: .... “According to the recently released accident report, their anchor got stuck in the coral, and they tried to free it unsuccessfully. In a last frustrating attempt...

motor height on a 265? can't find orig. post

That's how my HPDI runs, with the red stripe showing. Our aluminum prop shows a wear-streak mid-blade (at about 300 hrs)., and our trusted mech says this is quite normal. Hope this can help some. Cheers, Jim

    The happy New Year thread!

Happy New Year and all the best to you and yours! Thank you everyone for the help and advice you've given us over the years. It makes us having our baby "Vedette" all the more possible. We're starting the year off with a harbor cruise this afternoon. A bit chilly for us out here when it...

    Winter cover for 208 Adventure

As mentioned, our 208 cover was custom made and ran a little over $800. If you’re keeping her in a slip, I’d go for a custom fit cover to make sure it stays in place during a gale. Our marina is especially dirty, being located behind Pacific Coast Highway, near dirt fields and oil derricks...

    New pics

Oops. Sorry about that. Going too fast. 310-510-0455 will work much better for Joe's. aka "Avalon Boat Stand" I like those moorings you are talking about. They seem more isolated as they are kind of away from everyone else. I'll say howdy if we happen to spot you, and vice-versa...

    New pics

Thanks for the advice catch22. OnoEric, the moorings on that side of the pier are run by the folks at Joe’s Rent A Boat. 510-310-0455. During the busy season, you can call to get an idea on availability, but its first come first serve. Now that the summer is winding down a bit, there...

    Scuppers and engine in water

I’ve said before, the heavier the better for our little 208 - especially in the bow. But, there are things I need to do to help this and I'm positive an upcoming Sting Wray fin addition will help a lot in many regards. As I’ve learned from this great site. The water can work well for...
