    Scuppers and engine in water

Luckily our HPDI stays completely clear of the water when on full tilt. But, a short term solution could be to use a few 5 gal water jugs to weight the bow to keep the motor out of the water. Easy to drain and fill upon use and put-away. But you want to keep the water line at the bow above...

grady 20' vs 22' center console

Good article. Thanks for posting. Even though this primarily features a different boat and motor - an awesome rig I must add - the reviewer goes out of his way to mention that the F150 is a tried and tested choice for the modern, “younger” 208. However, on the original question. A...

    Future of Boating & GW

I hope this link works for you all. It's a San Diego company, I believe. http://www.valcent.net/i/misc/Vertigro/index.html This features a new USA fuel sorce/ alternative that I certainly hadn't heard about yet. Pay particular attention to what the guy says at the very end...

grady 20' vs 22' center console

If possible for the long term, in ease of usage and monthly/yearly affordability, I’d always go with the bigger boat. However, a modern 150 HP is more than enough power for the 20’ hulls. But, to each their own, and if you and a crew of two weigh in at a 3rd of a ton, and you have the...

    HPDI engine problem

Gradyfish22 can probably describe better than I. It’s located inside the metal Vapor Separator Tank (VST) that’s located on the front-right side of the block. Once accessed, this filter can be cleaned, or blown out, rather than replaced. You can Google " Yamaha HPDI Vapor Seperator " and...

    HPDI engine problem

Have them check the Vapor Separator filter. It’s a very fine filter and apparently bad gas can clog it up over the course of a few years. I had mine cleaned just the day after yesterday because over the course of a year, it would bog down every once in awhile whenever the bow lifted high...

    A Chip in the transom-hull

and....not a "gelcoat" bubble of course, but one in the epoxy barrier under that... ? That was how mine was explained, but it's perfectly placed for a badly aimed forklift. Easy fix.

    A Chip in the transom-hull

I have a similar chip in the same place pn our 2001 208. It's about half an inch long located right on the port hull/transom corner about 6 inches down from the rubrail. I was told it was a gelcoat bubble that popped when the mold released?

Geez, I envy you Fla and SoCal guys

Protek9543, you are right! Out here in So Cal we don’t get Hurricanes, and Earthquakes don’t matter if you’re at sea! Resulting tsunami’s are another issue, but again, being 20 or so miles out is where you’d want to be. So the goal is to stay out on the water as much as possible, just in...

How many of you name your boats?

I came across our boat name while studying history in college years ago in Melbourne Australia. I knew someday I’d have my first dream boat and was always looking for the right name. It’s from the late 1600s. Vedette: "1. Also called vedette boat. a small naval launch used for...

    WHEN IS YOUR SPLASH DAY?

My wife and I were out today by mid-morning and it was a sunny 70 degrees with 10k or less of wind. We had fun catching 4 mackerel that we later donated to another forum member to be used for lobster bait tonight on a hoop-net outing. (Current weather @ 9:45pm PST is 55F and clear.)...

    New 208 for me?? Maybe

She looks clean, but you could potentially do better with a more modern (fuel efficient) engine for that price. Those are gas guzzlers compared to the HPDI or Four Strokes. (the HPDI has a great rep in my biased opinion) Be sure to shop around and compare. Use what you find to whittle that...
