Transom bang cap: replace with ss, vinyl or glass it over?

I've seen several of these transom rebuild threads and mention (or pics) of an aluminum brace. What years / size boats have this? I have a 2000 Chase, so curious if mine has it. It would seem to almost eliminate total transom failure unless you just completely ignore it and it's totally rotten...

Transom Rebuild - follow my journey

In all honesty, I've been toying with selling mine, so look daily at what's out there and what else is avail for me to move into. The cheapest Chase near me (FL) was $25k with original twin OX66 and just sold (quickly I'll add). Now the cheapest is mid $40k with 2k hr 4strokes. That's kinda how...

Transom Rebuild - follow my journey

Yeah, as a Chase 263 owner, I dunno what I'd do in that situation. I'm about to take mine in to hopefully have the transom sealed up (bang plate removed), but if that kind of report came back and your boat is already cut in half, I feel like you almost have to dump the money into it. Will be...

"New to me" 2000 263 Chase - few questions

The boat is rated for 500hp, so twin 250s is a viable option. My research has shown most came from factory with twin 200s and a lot of ppl seem to agree that is an ideal setup. I did briefly look around for a 300 or 350, but figured a 300 wasn't worth the hassle and just didn't have luck on the...

"New to me" 2000 263 Chase - few questions

Thrilled to have a Grady White to my name (I think - ha!). I just bought the boat a few wks ago. Previous owner had it for 3 yrs and it was kept in the water. I see some corrosion around the bang plate and although I'm a lil wary with all the transom stories, I don't see any swelling and it...
