    20 Overnighter/200 hp prop pitch

I bought a couple of props on eBay this week and the first one that came in the mail was the 19Pitch Mirage Plus. It is one of those props that allows you to remove the little plastic plugs to ventilate the blades for a better hole shot. First I tried it with the plugs in. Hole shot wasn't...

    20 Overnighter/200 hp prop pitch

I appreciate the input from you all, sounds like I should try a Mirage 17 pitch and a Mirage 19 pitch and see how each one of them work on my boat/motor. I very rarely use WOT except to get up on plane with a big load, or a couple of times a summer for waterskiing, and the rest of the time I'm...

    20 Overnighter/200 hp prop pitch

Thanx for updating. I thought you meant something like that but it's nice to know exactly what you meant. It sounds like the Mirage 15.5X17 is the way to go. Anybody successfully using a 19 pitch stainless prop or is 17 the way to go?

    20 Overnighter/200 hp prop pitch

Plan to use stainless, thanks! Did you really mean a "17" X 17 stainless Mirage because I can't find one that big and am not sure there's enough clearance to mount it?

How much do you tip a dock hand when docking or getting gas?

I think that the previous posters are pretty much in the mainstream as far as tipping dock boys go. But the situation does vary, for example if they're acting like they'd prefer that you'd hurry up and move on so they could get back to lounging, etc. OR if they're especially attentive and...

    20 Overnighter/200 hp prop pitch

I'm primarily interested in good fuel economy and cruising, usually with 2 people on board, and am wondering what pitch prop would be best to put on a 200hp fuel injected mercury motor on my '78 20' Overnighter? I've read all the guidelines put out by prop manufacturers and understand that at...

    Repowering a 1988 Overnighter 20

I just went through this with my 78 Overnighter and decided to go with a used motor to save $$$. I ruled out 4 strokes because of the weight/scupper issue. So then it was down to a choice between a traditional fuel injected 2 stroke and a HPDI motor. My mechanic prefers to work on Mercury's so...

    I/O to OB Conversion

If you like your boat, but are worried about structural issues with an OB, why not just put in a new (to you) IO? A new one might be more pricey than you'd prefer, but you see lots of not terribly old bayliners and such around for sale cheap that you could transplant an alpha drive and 350 V8 from.

    20' Overnighter Repower

I just checked the NADA online guide and according to it, Yamaha didn't make a 4 stroke motor that big until 2002. Could your 200hp motor be the 2 stroke that weighed just over 400# or is it really a post 2001 4 stroke that weighs about 460# (475 for XL)? If it's the 4 stroke, how does it sit...

    20' Overnighter Repower

Thanks for the discussion, lots of great info. I've got a good friend who has a Suzi 175 4 on his 20' whaler and loves it. Nice motor. I've heard the same about the newer etechs. But I've found that a big part of boating happiness lies in having a mechanic you can totally trust and who works...

    20' Overnighter Repower

Thanks wanderer, your boat must have been very similar to mine and it sounds like exactly what I am afraid would happen if I tried to put a 3 liter Opti on my boat. I looked up your 200 hp rude and it said the thing weighed in at just over 500# so that sort of reconfirms that I should try to...

    20' Overnighter Repower

As I mentioned before, it does sound like the 175 Opti might be just about right and that's probably what I'll end up with, but I wonder if there's anybody out there who's actually mounted one of the 3 liter Opti's (200 or 225hp), or a 4 stroke that weighs over 500# on the 204 Overnighter, and...

    Anyone relocate washdown pump?????

I noticed that the pump in the picture is mounted correctly, with the pump/wet part below the supposedly sealed motor rather than above it. I mention this because I once bought a boat with the washdown mounted the other way around so any slight leak in the hoses or even condensation was dripping...

    20' Overnighter Repower

Thanks for the comments, all. I do think the 175 Opti might be the ideal engine for me and anything bigger would have more negatives than positives. The reason I'd like to use the transom jack is because the 20" engine sits so low to the water, and unless I slowed down very gradually...

    20' Overnighter Repower

Hi all, I'm new to this site and have tried the search function in an attempt to answer my question but still have ?????'s and am thinking there's some old Grady hand out there who can tell me just what I want to know. I have a "vintage" (1978) 204 Overnighter that's still in great shape...
