    SUZUKI or YAMAHA

I will say that my father's fishing buddy has had a nightmare ownership of his first year F250's . Making oil problems (gas getting in oil), lost a powerhead, dealing with Yam's warranty dept. He lost much of the first two seasons of owning a 100k boat. Call BS all you want but here he is in...

    New Grady owner...

Nice Ride... I posted a photo of that boat last Dec! (noting how the OptiMaxes are the most powerful and fuel efficient motors on the market! 8) :D ) See here: http://www.greatgrady.com/forum/viewtop ... 1&start=15

    Air lift helper springs

I added them to my truck and am very impressed with how they helped dampen the rear of the truck from bouncing around. I tow with a 1/2 ton so I am fairly close to the max load of the truck and was getting a bit of a bounce after having my trailer professionally adjusted. (tongue wait was...

    Fuel Mgmt retrofit

Get smartcraft guages. They are nearly dead on accurate from idle to WOT..... Oh wait, nevermind it is a Yamaha  8) My father has lowarance fuel management on his 27 Judge but it has not been nearly as accurate as the Floscan he had on his last boat. He wishes he spent the extra money...

    Marina choice

have you considered a boatel? All Seasons Marina outside of Ocean City NJ offers them and I am sure there are others. I have never kept a boat in a boatel to know all the disadvantages. Maybe others can chime in with that. The only ones I know of are: 1. generally you have to wait for the...

    Soda Blast??

At my old marina the guy did wet sand a sailboat and the bottom turned out decent. Certainly not like new though..

    Soda Blast??

last time I used Potomac soda blasting. However I think they guy is out of doing it. Mid Atlantic did my Pro-line 2950 but there were very expensive the when I checked for them on my MayCraft. I would check with both Midatlantic Soda Blasting and Choptank Soda Blasting (as a buddy used them and...

    Trailer - Galvanized or Aluminum?

AL trailers tend to look nicer longer. However, if you ever plan on using for another boat, readjustments can be a problem due to the fact that axles are drilled through the I beams

Adjusting boat lift bunks for 228 ??

Dont you just have two parallel bunks? You will probably have to push them together to keep the v of teh boat from touching the cross members. If you find that the bunks have to be too close together and dont provide enough support, then you may have to fine a way to raise the bunks higher so...

    Soda Blast??

i had it done to two boats. the first was my Pro-line 2950 to remove excess build up of bottom paint and switch the boat to ablative. The second time was my current boat as the marina I used failed to prep the bottom properly and the paint was flaking off. Soda blast does a nice job removing the...

Windlass with no bow pulpit ???

The best bet would be to get a factory pulpit. I am sure your local dealer could install. It would keep with the lines of the boat best. Not sure it would go with the lines of the boat but you can add an extended anchor roller like here: http://www.boatersworld.com/product/157420225msk.htm I...

    Repower or sell?

Because so many people have bought in to the 4 stroke thing and hate spending money on something they burn, there is a lot of false economy people out there selling their low hour used 2 strokes for nothing to buy the expensive newer technology motors that they will never recoupe their money on...

replace old 2 stroke with 4 stroke

While 4 strokes will never quite have the "umph" two strokes do, one of the problems that is common is that the motors get mounted too low on a repower. Make sure you are propped properly and the motors are mounted to the right height... See here: http://www.thehulltruth.com/forums/thre...

Repowering question. 24 offshore, gil bracket, johnson 225

I would want my rpms to be around 5500 with that motor. If the engine is running properly, Make sure you motor is mounted to the correct height. See this thread here and the photos by Ken2 of Prop gods. Then look at props once you have the motor mounted at the correct height...

    2005 228 -225HP vs 2006 250HP ??? Yam 4 strokes

Depends upon the parker hull. The mod v does ok with the f250. I think the boat will hit 40mph at WOT. The f225, which according to the EPA test site, dynos in at 208hp and probably is on the weak side. For the deep v's I would think 300hp would be a min. The deep v is probably more comparable...

    Four Stroke on 228G

That is horse stuffing as far as longevity goes. I know some opti owners with thousands of hours on their motors. You do have to run the appropriate oil and keep up with regular maintenance. Sine the early years 90% of the time if you hear of a failure it is either a fluke thing, some one who...
