228g hard top ,top end speed

A lot of factors at work for individual speed results. 1. How much extra weight is aboard? Lots of guests, full fuel, full ice or livewells, lots of "crap" will make the boat heavier and slower. 2. Is the bottom clean? Barnicales and slime will slow you down. 3. Enclosure up? The wind resistance...

    Power TRim Motor

Do aftermarket motors work - yes. Do they hold up as well as genuine - nope. I got about 15 years out of my trim motor on my 70 yamaha and replaced it with an Arco. The arco is showing signs of rust and is no where near the 15 year mark. Try boats.net to check prices for OEM

Using a Whaler towed behind a Grady

All I do is have bumpers tied to the side of my big boat for loading/unloading of materials. Once unloaded I just tie a single line from the bow of the whaler to the stern of the big boat about 15-20' off. I do have a slight advantage since I have a full platform that makes getting to the whaler...

    towing a tender

I tow my 15 Whaler/70 Yamaha behind my 36' Pacemaker a lot with no issues. I loose about 1-2 knot but that is about all. The Pacemaker cuts a lot of the waves but there are still times the whaler will get out of the water even at 20 knots. Just tow with a long rope from the center (like a ski...

    20 Overnighter- repower question

What benefit are you seeing from tabs? The boat rides level port to starboard. The bow stays down (almost too much) already. The 225 gets it on plane instantly.

    20 Overnighter- repower question

Boat came with a tired 150 johnson that would do mid 30's. Replaced with a 225 Optimax and now just shy of 50 on a very old bottom paint with an enclosure and still not sure of the prop. Engine is on a bracket and no tabs yet.

    Mildew Odor Bags

It was a common issue but was also informed about it in the beginning of winter by a local marina so I used a different company.

    Power plants

On each fuel/air rail you will see a schrader valve. One is air and one is fuel. There should be a 10 psi difference between the two. Mercury has a nice gauge to test these at the same time.

    Power plants

I have a 2005 225 Opti. First thing I'd do is check the air pressure and fuel pressure are within limits.
