What props should I be running

Just checking what props people are running and how to check the pitch of the ones I currently have. I have purchased the 268 with the new twin F225's. How do I check what props I have (is it written on them somewhere?) & I also think I am not getting full revs at the moment?

    Motors for a 268 Islander

I have purchased the boat as it was traded in on my Hatteras 46. The boat actually runs really nicely with the F225's cruising at 25 knots at 55 litres per hour? I have had the transon & hull etc checked out by a boat builder and all good. I have also been offered by the local Yamaha dealer to...

Driving a 268 at sea for the first time

Well made it back & it was a 3 metre swell with a 3 metre sea from a couple of directions so pretty nasty but a good test. Even the Hatteras bumped around going with the sea on the way up. Very happy with the Grady ride, tucked the engines in as suggested and drove the boat on every wave backing...

Driving a 268 at sea for the first time

Let you know how we go, we change boats tommorrow morning. We take out 46 Hatteras up the coast and trade in the Grady White and bring her home. Unfortunately the trip home is into the sea, the 24 ton Hatteras loves that sea.

Driving a 268 at sea for the first time

I will be delivering my new (second hand) 268 on Monday. My first trip will be straight out to sea and a 20 mile run down the coast. Any information on how I should trim the 4 strokes, use the trim tabs or best speed to run at sea would be appreciated?

Hull ID numbers how do they work?

Keeping in mind this boat is registered in Australia. I beleieve over here you could register the boat with the year whatever you like, its not till you have an insurance claim or require a survey on the vessel that you would have a problem. The main reason for asking was in relation to the...

    Motors for a 268 Islander

I just checked the boat and the side scuppers are a good inch or two under water but the transom scuppers are maybe 3 inches above the waterline. When we had 3 people stand on one side water would come up to deck level via the side scuppers internally. Are the side scuppers meant to be...

Deck going soft is this normal

Thanks guys thats a great help, we do not have a lot of Grady Whites to choose from over here so I guess anything second hand will have some problem or another. I just really wanted to know if I should be concerned about any potential structual problems in regards to the deck going soft.

Deck going soft is this normal

Just checking if it is common for the deck to go soft and require the ply replacement on a 10 year old boat. I am told this under $1000 job to fix but am concerned that maybe transon etc may have the same problem. Could I have some comments or experiences please on this topic?

    Motors for a 268 Islander

I am looking at a 1997 model 268 Islander that has just been repowered by a pair of 225 Horsepower Yamaha 4 strokes. Is this too much power for the hull or is this a good pwer option? I would also like some feedback if possible on the 268 in general we do a fair amount of gamefishing and I have...
