Please Help. This price seems WAY too high.

Thanks all. I decided to have them do it. They are doing a nice job. Going slowly, but it's looking good. The pulled the motors off with a crane and left them rigged up so they could get the the entire bracket. Guy told me that the inside is foam and there wasn't any significant water...

Please Help. This price seems WAY too high.

I've posted a few questions about my engine bracket restoration project. Many of you have given me some great advice, for which I thank you. I just got an estimate from my marina to do the job. $3,500 seems crazy. They are charging $2,650 to remove and re-install the twin 150's, remove the...

Anybody paint or stain their trim and cuddy door?

Hello, Not digging the "trim" that is all over my 1992 232 Gulfstream. The material is in fine shape, just the color is not so nice. Same with the white door to the cuddy. Anybody paint or stain these? Recommendations on what paint to use? I assume it's a simple as taping it off and...

Hey guys/gals: 1992 Gulfstream 232. Don't know much about the operation of this particular boat as after I bought it, I took it to the marina for some work. I notice a couple things. This is my first boat with two gas tanks. It looks like there is a fuel valve inside the stern area. Sounds...

    Another Gil Bracket Question

May have dodged a bullet. Marina just called me. While he still wants a welder to look at the bracket, the thinks we'll be able to salvage it, at least for a couple seasons. He pulled the drain plug and very little water came out. Corrosion not as bad as he originally thought. Let's see.

    Another Gil Bracket Question

Sorry to keep asking about this, but. . . OK, the marina is going to have a welder look at my engine bracket (92 Gulfstream 232) before they pull the engines, etc. The guy that looked at is was worried that maybe we couldn't salvage it. I've called around to a few places. Armstrong is over...

    Fuel Tanks, Decals, Strips, etc.

Hey all, Taking my "new to me" 92 232 Gulfstream to the marina tomorrow for it's new home of dry storage. First repair is to pull engines and figure out what to do with the Grady Drive. Some say powder coat, others say to just paint it. Need to get all the existing paint and rust off of it...

Good point on the powder coating below the waterline. I'll discuss with the marina and maybe they can just sandblast then paint. John

Awesome, awesome information guys, thanks so much. Great pictures too of your bracket. I am going to copy it and send to the powder coat guy so he can give me an estimate. I'm glad to see that if they can't get the bracket off the transom, it can be done in place. Thanks again!!! I'll let...

Thanks for the reply. I actually spoke to my marina and they recommended that we pull the engines and the bracket and send the bracket out to be powder-coated, then paint if with the correct paint after that. The bare aluminum is exposed so I want to get this taken care of ASAP before it...

Hello All, I just bought my first Grady White. It's a 1992 232 with twin 150 Johnson Silver Star Series outboards. She's in nice shape, hull seems very strong, no bubbles, etc. I live in South Florida and going to do a little work to her before I bring to the marina for dry storage. My...
