I bought the ones off EBay from CB Concepts and they work great. Got the 6 foot 6 inch in amber and put them under the gunwales. I wish I got the longer ones and put them all the way to the bulkhead. They come with more then enough mounting clips.

My 1989 228 has a 225hp Johnson on it. Grady shows up to 280HP for the 228 in 1989 as stated in owners manual.

I have a 1989 Seafarer 228G, And I removed the plug from bracket and water did drain out. The cover plate on top of my bracket was not sealed properly and I believe that is how the water got in. If you have bottom paint just scrape off paint from plug and remove plug.

I have a 1989 228G with a 225 Johnson and no pulpit. From the very front or tip of bow to back of outboard measures 24 feet.

A 228 will have the motor mounted on the transom, and the transom will be open. A 228G will have a bracket on the transom that puts the motor back farther and gives you a enclosed transom. G stands for Grady bracket. I have a 1989 228G and it is a great boat.
