I'll see if I can find a manufacturer/ model number on my new covers. I couldn't find an 'O' ring the right diameter that wasn't too fat. Also, the radii of the different manufacturers varies +/- 1/4"
So I'm reading the owner's manual for our 1995 Simpson Lawrence windlass which states " on no account should multiplait rope be used!". Does anyone have experience with multiplait rode and a vertical S-L windlass? I'm wondering if the newer multiplait lines are more suited for use with a...
Dennis, it was a forth of July for sure. We saw a bald eagle during the afternoon and commented on how cool it was to see one on Independence Day ......had to be the same night.
We had a similar experience at Stillpond a while back. No breeze and stinking hot all night. Finally got to sleep and woke up a 4:00 AM with the wind howling. The anchor line was like a guitar string. That was on our 37 Silverton, which had a lot of windage. At the time we had a fortress...
My bowsprit only has one roller. I'm starting to think I want to go with the Fortress as my main anchor. With 30' of chain, the weight ( or lack there-of) shouldn't be an issue.
Dennis, thanks for the clarification of the two type of roller assemblies.....I didn't see that before.
The roller I have looks just like the one in the link. I was considering doing away with the metal bail that's bolted with the roller itself, or possibly making a taller one. Only if the existing piece prevents free launch or retrieval.
We had a fortress fx 23 with 300' of rode and 80' of...
I'm installing new ground tackle this spring. I've got a bow pulpit with a roller. Seems like most of the GW that I see have the Delta anchors. Seems like the Delta will work better with the roller than the danforth style. We anchor exclusively in sand or mud here in the upper Chesapeake...
After reading this thread, as well the information provided by Boat/US, I can't understand why anyone would buy a Yamaha. I know they have built many good motors, but the way they've handled this issue has been disappointing at best.
If you're going to do the epoxy, you might as well go to a counter shop and see if they have the proper Corian color epoxy. You'll need to borrow their gun too. If done correctly, you won't be able to find the crack when you're done
If the Corian is a solid color (& some of the patterns) you should be able to repair it. Check a local woodwork fabricator. If they can't fix it, they should be able to duplicate it. Counter top shops should also be able to do this.
Check the round access hatch on the floor in the cabin. On our 95 there are two seacocks....one for the head intake and one for the overboard discharge (which should be closed unless you're offshore). Can't remember which side (port vs stbd)is the intake though
Our boat has a measly group 24 multi purpose for accessories. Seem like even a relatively small boat like this, you'd want at least a deep cycle group 24....if not a 27 or 31. Guessing it would take all day to fully charge a larger deep cycle by motor, but certainly could bring it up to charge...
We have a 95 w / 200hp mercs that will need replacing at some point. We'll go with another set of 200 hp 2 stroke. If for no other reason they are all ~100# lighter than 4 stokes. Not as fuel efficient, by we don't venture too far from home. Also heard of the added weight of 4strokes...
If it's a portable head, the flush water comes from the fresh water tank on the toilet itself....the top half of the toilet. If there is plumbing to the toilet ( as opposed to from the toilet), it's probably fresh water. Try tasting it.......just kidding!
You might want to look at the Garmin 740S. For just under 2 k you get the head unit (7") touch screen, radar and fish finder ( the transducer is extra). Don't know if you can do the ' slave' unit thing with that machine. You could just buy another Garmin 540 S for about 500.00 and mount it in...
Here in MD a broker will be able to tell you what similar boats have actually sold for. This is a much more reliable barometer of value than listings. I would be curious why a repower so soon? Possibly all ocean use ( salt water).
As to why someone would like the Marlin better....probably...
