If you are trying to get more lift in the back, you might want to go to a four blade prop if it is in the budget.

    Yamaha trim cylinder seal leaking

It is not a big deal, you can buy the tool from SIM and the parts you need. I bought new seal holders. You put motor all the way up and lock in place, change seals and refill and bleed. If you need to, pickup a factory manual from SIM. But as stated by Salinity it is pretty easy. The refill nut...

    Gunnel Rod Holders

Yes if they are chromed your aren't going to polish them out, but you might check with a local plater to see if they can be rechromed, you are out 500 bucks for 4 new ones. I might add SS holders are less expense, go figure.

    265 Re-power Questions?

Just a question, if you go with 2 strokes don't you need to add the weight for the oil tanks, and oil, to the total weight added to the rear of the boat?

I know Sea Ray used to put standard rotating outdrives on a lot of there twins, I had a 270 Sundancer and it handled and tracked true with the standard rotation drives.

    Gunnel Rod Holders

The are stainless, you should be able to take them out and put them on a buffing wheel, with polish rouge and get them looking pretty good.

    Gauge panel screw replacement

There is not enough material in the existing nutserts to use a helicoil. When you run a drill in them they are very thin in the middle where they compress. These are 8-32 screws, these nutserts are barely a 1/4" in diameter compressed.

    Gauge panel screw replacement

Yes, I had some broke off by previous owner, replaced with nutserts from Aircraft Spruce. The tool is 9.50 and the nutserts are 28 cents ea. They are aluminum but if you put a little anti-seize on them you shouldn't have a problem. Thought I would add the part number for the tool, AAT916-832...

    Garmin 4212 on '01 263 Chase

That looks great, I did the same with a 4210 and 4208 on my 265 express, bought a piece of 3/8 abs and cut it out, pretty well pleased with the Garmin units. Use the 4208 just for sonar.

    Cleaning Inside

What are the stains from? Spot cleaning carpet Windex is one of the best, leaves no residue, you can replace foam and have covers cleaned.

Looking to install a seperate fish finder.

I'm running a Garmin 4210 for radar and gps and a 4208 w/ gds 22 and tm260 transducer. Will have 4208 install completed by monday. I also wanted to have a dedicated screen for depth and fish finder.

    Stupid question

I guess taking it back to who ever did the install is out of the question? Sounds like one of the cables might be kinked. Hydraulic system is probably better, will cost at least a grand just for the kit, they are fairly easy to install

    24 Explorer Windlass Location

Mine is mounted on the pulpit, the lifting eye rod has to be removed. I had the same question and GW said take it out. Otherwise rode doesn't feed properly and will jam up. I tried it with rod in doesn't work.

    Props for 265 with 225 4 strokes

I should have mentioned that conditions were extremely calm and no wind, on a short run last weekend with wind and more normal conditions, I showed 19.5 to 19.8 gph at 4400 rpm to 29.5 knots, at 3800 I was running 24kts and show 15.5 to 16.1gph. These are under much more normal and rough...

New Prop in the budget...advice before I buy

Hi Bob I just installed four blades and have been very happy with them. They cost about 460 each from the PropGods and that included shipping and install kit for Yamaha motors. I don't know if it will improve gas mileage much, but they won't hurt it. The props work great on my boat, 265 express...

    Props for 265 with 225 4 strokes

Well I finally got my boat in the water in San Francisco bay, haven't driven the boat so was mostly getting the feel for it. Went out the gate up to Stinson and back. It's been about 12 yrs since I had a boat this size, I was learning as I went. I was running the four blade props, never got...
